Abesapien1
I was able to test both sticks individually on another motherboad. NP, passed. So what does this tell me? Something wrong with the motherboard?
DerekT
Quite possibly. Can you set the modules to slot 2 & 4 and retest?
Abesapien1
I tested both sticks in slot 2 & 4. Major failure in that it was a different that pass failures. During Test #6 it freezes and states: Gen_Prot PC 000036bd CD 00000010 EFlag 00010040 Code 00000000 eax ???????? edx ???????? and so on Then Stack with bunch of addresses. Tested a one stick only in slot 2 and one stick in slot 4. again, passes. But whenever I do both sticks, failures, and much worse if not in slot 1&3. I know it is best to have matched pairs (which these are), but if not matched, it still shouldn't fail like this. So would you say motherboard, but seems ok, if only one stick in the motherboard? DerekT
You say you were able to test both sticks singly and both passed in another machine. You can not insert more than a single stick in your machine or it fails. If that is corrrect, then clearly either the memory controller on your Athlon CPU is failing or there are problems with the mainboard itself. Abesapien1
So it could be the memory controller on the CPU or the motherboard? I do not have time over the next few days to work on it, but may run some more tests. Are there any tests you can do to check the motherboard or CPU without removing one from the other? DerekT
You need to isolate the hardware to perform a testbed analysis. Remove the CPU and test it in another board, or remove the CPU and test another CPU in this board. You would need hardware diagnostic tools to test them both in the same board.
