GaryA
I have been running a pair of Mushkin XP3200 DDR2 Level 2 RAM (2,2,2,2) since building the system. I installed a pair of XMS 1 gb DDR2 3200 sticks to upgrade, but they won't boot with the Mushkin. I can use either pair, but together it won't POST. Is this a voltage or a timing issue? BIOS options are pretty thin.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2008 You cannot mix memory with most MB's just use our modules for best performance.
GaryA
I figured that was the case. So I'll use the older memory on another machine in the office. Meanwhile, I want to use the desktop I am upgrading for building modeling and 3D rendering. I don't think XP will address 4 gb of RAM, so if I leave the Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT 1gx2 in slots 1 & 3, what would you recommend for slots 2 & 4, 2x512? Is timing the issue on mixing brands? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2008 I would not suggest mixing memory, all of them should be exactly matched.
