Pilgr1M
ok i have the following ram Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-6400C4 2GB 2X1GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 CL 4-4-4-12 240PIN Dual Channel Memory http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=18580&vpn=TWIN2X2048-6400C4&manufacture=CORSAIR i also have the asus maximus formula, the ram keeps getting errors when tested. The strange thing is that one stick always works and the other doesnt. The person at NCIX (where i bought it from in person) opened 4 packages of the same ram and in each package 1 stick worked and 1 did not. And no it is not the motherboard slots because the 1 stick by itself would pass in every slot by itself. But when the other stick was tested it would fail in every slot. The person at NCIX says that the memory is not compatible with the asus maximus formula motherboard (and yes he updated the bios). he then tested some other memory, (ocz) and that tested without any errors.. WTF is going on!! lol.. i dont want to have to buy new ram because i dont have the original packaging because i already threw it away. It is definitely not the ram because 4 packages doing the same thing is basically impossible.. so it has to be the motherboard.. but again how does that make sense, if u look at the ram on the NCIX website it shows a combo deal with the asus maximus formula.. so how on earth could this ram not work with the mobo... sigh what do i do? help *also at the time of me getting the errors my cpu was at stock speed, and the ram was at the specified 2.1 volts and at 4-4-4-12 *if i left any info out just please let me know *lol on a totally unrelated note i like how this site censors other memory brands like O, C and Z :P hahahah like in every conceivable way including spaces and numbers. just mentioning it because it has *** where my power supply is on system specs
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 16, 2008 Are you sure the NCIX was using the latest BIOS and had the memory voltage at 2.1 volts? If you have the latest BIOS, load setup defaults. Set memory voltage to 2.1v and then test the modules individually. If one passes and the other fails, then we should have the set replaced. Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
Pilgr1M
yes he was using the latest bios, and i did set it to 2.1 volts along with stock settings everywhere else. but the thing is 1 stick worked the other did not. 4 packages all the same with 1 working stick and the other stick not working.. so in total 4 working sticks and 4 faulty sticks.. i tested each one separately in every slot.. Pilgr1M
no but this is the thing, they worked in another computer... thats what i dont understand... so im thinking it has something to do with the bios of the asus maximus formula... so is it a defective motherboard? i dont think so however because some other ocz memory worked. Im a fan of corsair and so will stay with corsair however possible. I know this ram should work with this motherboard but the tech guy and me cannot find the problem. I may just end up buying different ram, http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=24038&vpn=TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX&manufacture=CORSAIR&promoid=1019 i had my eye on that set. If i cant figure out the problem and have to buy new ram what would u suggest? btw ill be ocing my Q6600 to 3GHz, and so need capable ram. I dont want to oc the ram very much at all i just need ram to withstand an oc
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2008 If the modules will work in another system that would suggest some other issue. If you updated the BIOS I would flash it back a version and see if that helps
Pilgr1M
done that and no luck :(

Pilgr1M
but wont that cost me money to ship, and i highly doubt the ram is the problem escpecially when they worked in another system and 4 packages of the same ram did exactly the same thing
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 17, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 17, 2008 If the memory was working in a different system then you are right, there may not be a problem with the memory. You might want to contact ASUS and see what their take is, on the issue. Really seems like a BIOS issue, can you tell me which revision of the modules you have? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 18, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 18, 2008 There should be a Rev. number or an XMS number on the parts themselves.
