dsteyaert
I bought this computer used and it came with corsair memory. It has 4 sticks of xms2 memory. All sticks are cm2x1024-6400. One pair is xms6405v4.1 and have consecutive serial numbers. The other pair is xms6405v5.1 and do not have consecutive serial numbers. Presently I only have the version 4.1 pair installed. All is running fine. System: Asus p5n32-e sli motherboard -- Intel qx6700 processor -- EVGA 8800gtx video card -- Arctic Freezer 7 Pro heat sink -- Windows xp pro First question---If I upgrade to Windows Vista, can I use the other 2 sticks of ram that are version 5.1 and not sequentially numbered? Second question--- Data sheet says the timings for the ram are 5-5-5-12 at 1.9v and are spd programmed at those values. However, they are running at 5-5-5-18 at 1.8v. Should I leave well enough alone and not change the last value?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 15, 2008 You shouldn't have any problem running 4 GB in Vista, just make sure you have this patch first: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777. I would recommend setting the memory voltage manually to 1.9 volts to ensure stability, and if you like, you can adjust the timings to 5-5-5-12 which is how these modules are tested.
