TWINX2048-3200C2PT SPD & P/N Issue?

Recommended Posts

I purchased a TWINX2048-3200C2PT package from Newegg a few weeks ago and installed the two modules into my 4+ year old home-built PC (based on Gigabyte GA-8IEXP mobo). I have manually set 2-3-3-6 in the BIOS, but I get 2.5-3-3-6 when I look at Everest and CPU-Z results.

I also find the SPD readout from both Everest and CPU-Z indicate the part number of each module is VS1GB400C3. According to the Corsair website, this is a "Value Select" part number, not an XMS part number, so I wonder what I've really got underneath the "platinum" heat spreaders. Is this a production error? Also, the SPD readout does not have a column for 2-3-3-6. At 166 MHz, the SPD settings are 2.5-3-3-7 and at 200 MHz they are 3-3-3-8. So what about a column for 2-3-3-6 as supposedly tested? I tried sifting through the various FAQs but couldn't quite parse out the answers to my questions.

I would recommend that you update to the latest available BIOS for your motherboard and manually set the timings to 2-3-3-6, and also be sure to set the memory voltage to 2.75v. The SPD on the module may have been incorrectly programmed, however setting the timings manually will override this. If you have any problem running at these settings, or you would just like to get the modules replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
