objectifyme
I'm not sure of what the problem may be, but I have a huge feeling that it's my power supply that's causing the problem. You see, I'm running on a 230W power supply that I got from my recent Compaq desktop that got fried by a lightning strike. I've checked the Corsair website to see if my motherboard is compatible with the Corsair memory that I bought, and it is, so I doubt it's my motherboard's problem. By the way, before I forget, the model of the memory that I bought is CM2X1024-6400C5DHX. Would very much appreciate it if someone could help. Thanks! Wired
Yes, I'd use a different power supply. Aside from possibly being proprietary, the lightning part isn't helpful either :)
objectifyme
Thanks for the reply, Wired. I'll get a new power supply, then. :)
objectifyme
Just one more thing. Whenever I start the PC with the new RAM and the new RAM alone, everything works except the monitor. I, then hear this recurrent beep that lasts for at least a second and a half. It goes on and on until I shut down my computer. What does this mean? Wired
Check the manual for the beep code. What happens when you use just the old memory?
objectifyme
The manual only teaches me how to insert the RAM into the motherboard. And when I use my old RAM, my computer works fine.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2008 Did you get a new PSU yet? And with just our modules installed I would try and reset or clear the BIOS with the Clear CMOS jumper on the MB.
objectifyme
Alright, I'll give that a try and let you know. Thanks, Ram Guy.
objectifyme
Tried it. Didn't work. I have a question, by the way. Will a lousy PS be able to run really good hardware? Edit: The manual says the beep code indicates a problem with my DRAM. =/
