bigmike12
Dear Corsair, I have added a second set of Twin2X2048-8500C5D therefore I now have 4X1Gb modules. In the BIOS menu, I have a warning stating that SLI-Ready memory has not been detected. Since I have a dual-8800 SLi system, does this mean the above will give me problems? I am getting some blue screens during games, with the system restarting and stating that there was a hardware problem. I am also running Vista Ultimate 64-bit in case it helps. Could it be that since the 2 sets of RAM were bought seperately, I am having problems? Is there any way of getting them to work together? Thanks in advance for your time. Best Regards, Michael
CoolRam
Something you can check really quick is the version of the 2 sets. There are version 1.x and 2.x. On the module you'll see something like, XMS8505v1.2 or v2.X. They can post a problem if mismatching different versions. I believe because of its voltage requirement, ver1.2 needs 2.2v and ver2.x needs 2.15. Hope that's not the case.
bigmike12
thanks for your reply - yes i've just noticed that I have 2 modules version 1.x and 2 version 2.x :( So there is no way of getting these working together? What about the SLI ready setting, If I keep all 4 modules, there will be no way to set it to CPUOC MAX so they can work @ 1066MHz right? regs, mike

Correct me if I'm wrong, but SLI ready profile is just means preset parameters, no difference from you setting them manually (i don't think there's any performance advantages). Well, in my opinion, I would first try underclock the memory to 667mhz and go from there. Sorry for the bad news. Most people would suggest using 2x2g (2 sticks) instead, easier to clock them. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2008 SLI ready memory has nothing to do with SLI Video and with 4 modules you may not see or able to set SLI ready memory. And with 4 modules I agree with CoolRam DDR667 or DDR800 would be suggested depending on the MB chipset and or CPU.
bigmike12
Thank you guys. If you had the choice, would you try to spend hours and get the 4modules running stable @ 667 or 800Mhz or would you just keep 2Gb running smoothly @ 1066MHz? I think will keep 2X1Gb running @ 1066MHz and hopefully the store will let me return the 2nd pair. I do not think that a 2X2Gb Dominator pair exists unfortunately... will wait for that. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 15, 2008 We did develop them but the IC's are just not available yet to make a 2 Gig DDR1066 module.
