foggythecat
I want to upgrade a Gateway MX3215. It has a Via VN800 chipset and came with 256Megs PC2-4200 I picked up VS1GSDS667D2 1Gb PC2-5300 on sale, thinking it would work. When installed, there was no boot, no beeps, nothing! I reseated it carefully and tried it twice with no boot. The old memory works OK when I reinserted it. Do I need to exchange it for a VS1GSDS533D2 1G PC2-4200? or Is this one of those laptops that needs some special treatment to reset the BIOS for new capacity RAM. (Gateway says just plug it in and boot)
