Nyms
Hey there I recently Updated my ram, i was using 1GB (2x512MB) DDR, And am now using Corsair DDR2 Twin2x XMS2 2GB (2x1G) 6400C4 and have had problems ever since. The problem is that i can use windows and smaller applications but when i attempt to play games (Cod4, The Witcher Ect) I can get about 3-5 mins before it freezes and crashes (the PC that is not the game). I have checked that the bios settings are correct, but due to my limited knowlage i am unsure of what is wrong. Ive got Cpuz and Memtest - But dont have any blank CD's atm to burn memtest so the information availible to me at this time is limited. Any insight or help would be much appriciated. Cheers
Nyms
Update: I ran memtest and it passed, but it said that the chipset was not supported and the chipset name area was blank throughout the test.

RJLeong65
Hey there I recently Updated my ram, i was using 1GB (2x512MB) DDR, And am now using Corsair DDR2 Twin2x XMS2 2GB (2x1G) 6400C4 and have had problems ever since. I have a Asrock 775Dual-VSTA Mobo Core2Duo e6300 @ 1.86Mhz And the Above stated Ram. The problem is that i can use windows and smaller applications but when i attempt to play games (Cod4, The Witcher Ect) I can get about 3-5 mins before it freezes and crashes (the PC that is not the game). Cheers I'm sorry to say this, but some DDR2-800 memory modules have compatibility issues with motherboards whose official memory speed support is limited to lower speeds. The 6400C4 series modules are among those with compatibility issues with older-design motherboards. The VIA PT890 series chipset is officially limited to only DDR2-533 memory speed support (though ASRock claims up to DDR2-667 support).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2008 Are you running all four modules the two 512's and the two 1 Gig sticks together? If so try setting the memory frequency at DDR667
Nyms
No i was just using the 2x1g sticks, as the 512's arent Corsair and so i wasnt sure they would work together
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 15, 2008 With just our modules installed please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.3 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.
