fagha
Can you please help me over clocking TWIN3X2048-1800C7DFIN used with motherboard Gigabyte X38T-DQ6 and Intel QX6850? I was not able to reach 1800MHz on the memory. I would appreciate your support.
CrazyOleg
To get the memory working at their tested settings, just load optimized defaults in the BIOS and then enable the XMP to Profile 1 in the M.B. Intelligent Tweaker section of the BIOS. This sets memory frequency, voltage, timings and the CPU settings necessary to run at 1800MHz.
fagha
Thanks, I did this but the problem when I use Profile 1 the bus speed changes to 450MHz and the core speed goes down to 2.7MHz
Yoxxy
When running that high of memory speed you will need to increase FSB Termination voltage to >1.40v and also NB voltage to >1.45v. This is a chipset limitation not a ram limitation. Obviously this is at your own risk. You will need to run 450x7 and overclock the cpu to get the most out of your particular computer, at least until Intel builds a divider > 1:2. Corsair Employees Bluebeard Posted January 22, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 22, 2008 This could help a little bit: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=62626 ;):
fagha
Thanks Bluebeard, I tried it but didn't work I don't have the same BIOS info for my GA-X38T-DQ6. It is disappointing to have such an exepnsive memory which is not utilized.
Yellowbeard
Have you tried increasing your voltage to your CPU as well as the NB voltages Yoxxy suggested?
fagha
Yes I tried, the system doesn't start once I change thebus speed, also I don't have entry for NB in my Bios
Yellowbeard
On Gigabyte MOBOs you have to press CTRL+F1 to reveal the secret hidden bios settings. Gigabyte may not call it NB on that bios. It may be MCH or memory controller hub.
K3ZA
I also own a GA-EX38T-DQ6 and no matter how i try to set it up I cannot get XMP to work at its correct settings! If I back off the timings to 9-9-9-24 @ 1800 it will run, but whats the point of that? I want it to do what it's supposed to do. I definately thinks it's the gigabyte mb, I owned the DDR2 version before this one and it was just as bad. even with xmp off, any fsb over 400 seems to be very sketchy, failures start to happen- such as usb devices start to fail. Im lost what to do now?

K3ZA
Gigabyte GA-EX38T-DQ6 Corsair TWIN3X2048-1800C7DFIN G Intel QX9650 Antec 1000W ATI 3870X2 1GB I have tried it out using voltages as high as: vcore- 1.5 (default is 1.25). ram voltage- 2.10 pcie v (something like that)- +0.35 fsb v- +0.35 (as high as it can go). mch- +0.400 (I havent read anyone go higher then 0.325 on this one). Im still only able to run at 450fsb if i scale down the memory divider or loosen timings quite a bit. Right now im running 450x7 with the memory at 675mhz. No memtest errors or prime95 errors so far. I've gone from thinking it's the motherboard to thinking that maybe the ram isnt capable of running at 900mhz(1800). I've tried ppl's suggestions of simply Loading 'Optimized settings' in bios and then turning on xmp to 'auto'- but no go. Also if i set to xmp 'Profile 1' and tweak Voltages etc it's still no go. Also tried running at 450fsb and turning off xmp and using 'standard', 'turbo', or 'extreme' memory setting but still no good. Very depressing. What do you's think? Thanks all. DerekT
There are issues with the Yorkfield Quad Core 45nm and greater than 400M - 450Mhz FSB. At this time, it seems as the 45nm Dual Cores make the 450Mhz FSB jump well but the 45nm Quad Cores are mostly not doing so and the ones that are doing so are doing so on the very high end ASUS boards, such as P5E3, etc... This is what I have found working with four QX9650's so far.
gOJDO
Yes, 450MHz FSB is somehow the limit of th Yorkies. If you are very lucky you may make it work stable at max FSB 470MHz. Definitely play with the multiplier and stick at around 400MHz(401MHz for stability) FSB. BTW, you may also try to increase the DIMM voltage a little. K3ZA
well I think my biggest problem reaching 1800 @ 7 7 7 20 was the fact that my ram was dodgey. I had a close look at it and a few small resistor looking thingies where hardly hanging on! One of them looked like it was broken off the solder completely and was just making contact! it's been sent back for warrenty, When it arrived the 2 modules where jammed together in the package, didnt see any probs at first until a second look (really should be better pack that cant open by itself). So now im back on my DDR2 board (DDR2-1066) with the QX9650 running @450, I found my usb devices went a bit wonky at this speed on both the X38 DDR2 and DDR3 board so i've tried changing the pci speed from 32 to 64 and it really seems to be good now- prime stable for last hour or so etc. When the corsair 14400 comes back i'll try that again and see what happens... Mr.Bad.Man.Jay
not stable dame it! close @ cpu 1.25V DDr @2V pcie/cpu clock 700mv and FSB +.1 so back to 425Mhz all setting's default except XMP profile cpu @1.25v DDR3 @1.95 pcie/cpu clock 700mv !
