misfit138
I installed a Corsair 450VX last night and ran into a slight problem. I can start up my machine fine the first time but any time I power it off, it will not start again. Nothing happens when I press the power button - no fans spin, no beeps, nothing. The only way I can get it to start again, is by unplugging the 20 pin connector from the mainboard and then reconnect it. Then it will power up like normal on the first try. If I power down again, the same thing happens. I have to unplug then replug the connector and it works. Also, unplugging the power cable out the back of the psu and replugging that in does not fix the problem, nor does any other power cable solve this. It has to be the 20 pin connector. And this does not happen if I attach my old psu. It starts fine every time. Any ideas as to what is going on?
EliteKiller
What motherboard? It's possible that it may require -5V which has been removed from most ATX 2.01 & up psu's. Does your old psu have a white wire?
misfit138
I'm at work at the moment but will check that when i get home. The mainboard is a MSI k8n neo platinum. I did find the pin layout for the mainboard and attached that. Will this help? Thanks!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 11, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 11, 2008 I would recommend that you make sure you have the latest BIOS for the motherboard, load setup defaults and retest the system and see if you have the same results. misfit138
I've disconnected all nonessential components so I'm just trying it with the following: MSI K8N Neo Platinum Athlon 64 3400+ 1Gb RAM Radeon 9800 Pro
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2008 I would recommend that you try the PSU functionality test outlined here. If the PSU fan spins then there may be an issue with your motherboard, and I would recommend testing the PSU in a different system.
