250rod120
Attempting to upgrade RAM from 2gb to 4gb, but when the Corsair ram is connected monitor remains blank & LED continues to blink (versus the solid green when working). Computer appears to be booting (all lights come on & recieve the 'windows didn't not shut down properly' message), but can't confirm since monitor isn't working. Any help would be appreciated! Test done: *Monitor works in original configuration after Corsair ram is removed. *Unpluged monitor, dialog box appears with "No Connection". *All configurations of the ram modules yeild the above result (4 combined, 1 Corsair module, etc.). Replacement Ram: Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX (2x2 GB) Original Ram: A-DATA ADQVE1A16K (2x1 GB) Monitor: Dell CTR M570 (VGA) Other PC components... CPU: Duo 2 Core Q6600 Video Card: nVidia 8800GT Motherboard: ASUS P5N-E 650i Power Supply: Thermaltake 750W
bigbuck08
Put the old RAM in and load BIOS defaults. Reboot and shut off the system. Put just the Corsair RAM in and see what happens. Its probably trying to run at the settings of your old RAM. I would mix two different brands either.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 14, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 14, 2008 Are you trying to mix our memory with other memory? If so please try the system wit just our modules installed.
250rod120
Only combined memory after PC wouldn't boot on the 2x2gb Corsair memmory modules installed. Then tried single module configurations as well as mixed brand configurations... all tests show that if Corsair memmory is installed monitor does not work. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 15, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 15, 2008 You cannot mix memory with that MB, and with just our modules I would try and reset the MB BIOS and see if it will post. There should be a jumper on the MB to clear or reset the BIOS.
250rod120
No jumper reset found in manual for bios, but booted in original configuration, loaded default bios settings, & shutdown (before repost). Replaced 2x1gb @#$% ram with the 2x2gb Corsair ram (made sure I heard the 2 clicks from the clamps during install with each module and confirmed that ram was properly seated) and restarted. Still no display and fans do not slow down after 30 seconds (usually takes 5 in original configuration).
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 16, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 16, 2008 If it is a retail boxed ASUS MB the CLRTC jumper will be in section 2 of the manual, if its an OEM system you would need to contact the respective system maker for help with that.
