KOGMEDIA
Hello, I am having some trouble with 2x 1GB Corsair Dominator (CM2X1024-8500C5D) I have tried booting my new Asus Commando with this ram and it won't post, I have also tested it in my friends computer same problem. I have tested his ram in my motherboard worked fine, I have checked the manual and they are compatible with my motherboard. Thanks, Keith
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 8, 2008 It is very unlikely that both modules would fail at the same time. I would suggest testing the modules individually in the same memory slot. If one of the modules fails and the other works, then we will need to replace both of them for you. However, if you get errors with both of them, that would usually suggest some other problem.
KOGMEDIA
I have tested both chips indvidually in all four slots with no luck, the LCD poster on the motherboard just says "DET DRAM" when ever the corsair ram is installed the motherboard was tested with just a CPU, Graphics Card & Ram
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 8, 2008 That would suggest some other problem and I would suggest testing them in another system to be sure.
KOGMEDIA
Hello, I am currently still running a Asrock P4VT8+ that uses DDR memory and AGP, so I do not have a suitable computer. I have tested each part in my friends new computer. Unfortunately I could not afford a complete system in one go, so I have been purchasing goods over the last few months to build a new rig. I got my core 2 duo Q6600 for Christmas so I had a complete system. I have spent the 3 days trying to get the system running, I have always built my own PCs and several for my friends/family and have a BTEC national diploma in computing. I am aware that the motherboard has some issues with detecting the memory timings/voltage, apparently in earlier bios revision. I have tried updating the bios using my friend’s memory and successfully updated the bios to latest revision and setting the timing and voltage in bios (5-5-5-15 / 2.1v & 2.2v). Unfortunately it still wouldn’t post, as I said before I have tested in my friends computer as it is a lot newer (under a month old), it supports DDR2 and is a working setup. It wouldn’t post in his system either I have tried using one DIMM at a time using all the DIMM slots, I have also tried using it in with his working modules but when ever I tried to use the corsair it would not post. I believe I have received some faulty ram as I have never used this ram and it has never posted. There is no damage to the chips and they are in perfect condition. My Rig Motherboard (Asus Commando / Intel P965 Chipset) I have contacted Asus to get the motherboard RMA yet I am still waiting for a useful reply, but it was working with my friends ram and my CPU and I don’t think it is the problem, but I will be returning for testing/replacement. Power Supply (Silverstone ENS-0565 650W) The power supply is fully tested & working, 650w enough power to boot the system & run GFX. Graphics Card (MSI Geforce 8800GT 512MB) Tested and working in my motherboard (above) and my friends system. CPU (Intel Quad Q6600) Purchased locally just before Christmas, would post with my friends with his ram installed. Will return it to the shop for testing today, I will ask them if they would test the ram for me as well as the CPU. I have checked all the usual things re-sitting then components, checked the connection, reset the bios. Tried running the ram on it own and as matched pair in all four slots in my new computer and in a friends computer, as well as setting the timing and voltage for the ram. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 9, 2008 If you would like to try getting the set replaced, then please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them. However in most cases if none of the modules will post in the system when tested individually there is some other issue. It would be very unlikely to get 2 module which would fail with the same issue, but I guess stranger things have happened!
KOGMEDIA
Thanks, I have submitted an RMA. I couldn't find my Corsair Part Number in the list so I added it to the description of the problem. Hopefully I get my system running soon :):
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 9, 2008 The part number should be Twin2x2048-8500C5D.

KOGMEDIA
Hi, I have tried to add the memory information into my tech support express case and it doesn't show it (my case number is 394097), However I have logged into my case and filled the information out again and it got email that ”Your RMA request was received on 1/10/2008 11:37:35 AM." I didn't get that e-mail yesterday when I filled out the information...
