cbrylla
Sorry to start a new thread on this, but the old one seems to have been forgotten.:): I have just bought the Asus P5K Premium WiFi and want to get the best RAM possible (I do professional video editing and compositing, so I need as much speed power as I can get). Btw, I use Win XP 32 bit. According to the Corsair mem configurator these are my option: Enthusiast TWIN2X2048-6400C4DHX Overclocker TWIN2X2048-8500C5D The 8500 is 1066 and according to Ausus this MOBO supports 1066, although they don't say for how much RAM. Now, if I get 3GB (leaving one slot free) of the 8500, is the MOBO going to recognise 3GB with 1066 speed? If not, is it worth getting 3GB of the 6400 series, or 2GB of 8500? Thanks in advance, and sorry if this sound obvious but my RAM knowledge is very limited:o:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 8, 2008 Three gig would be a waste I would just suggest one set of Twin2x2048-8500C5D with that MB or if you need more memory go with one set of Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX. cbrylla
Thanks for the response. Which possibility would be the fastest for WinXP 32bit: 2GB@1066 (Twin2x2048-8500C5D) or 4GB@800 (Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX). If I get the 2GB@1066 can I put 2 modules of 512MB to make it 3GB? Do they have to be 1066, too? Thanks a lot.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 26, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 26, 2008 Hands Down its Twin2x2048-8500C5D, and you cannot mix memory with most MB's today.
