Joe99
Hello, i´ve got a massive problem. Last year ive bought an Asus P5N32-E SLI and 4gb Corsair Dominator 8500C5D ive got the system running stabel with Ram @1066 mhz. Now ive getting serious problems. Blue screens System freezes... Now my question: might it be possible that ive "toastet" my Mainboard. I have tested the ram No probs (also tried other ram). But under Vista ultimate 64 bit ive getting these Freezes after a while. Under XP im getting bluescreens after a while. Fresh installed the BS, nothing changes.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 7, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 7, 2008 Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.1 volts (+.2 Volts W/Giga-Byte) and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have Cas 5-5-5-15 2t C/R, and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test. If all four pass DDR800 would be suggested with 4 modules and or you might try these settings. Joe99
Ive already tested the Ram without any failures. Ive inserted 2 G.E.I.L Ram modules and im getting the same failures. The system runned stable for over a half year. and since 2 Months im getting this faillures. I´ve also tried 666 mhz and 800 mhz and Vista is still freezing or getting blue screen I would like to know if it is possible that i have damaged the Motherboard with the 1066 mhz DDR setting. The Nvidia chipset right below the CPU is getting very very hot. I´ve touched it and its really hot. old settings CPU 1,3125v Memory 2,2250V FSB 2,7500V HT 1,2000v nForce 1,5000V CPU Core 2670.000 mhz FSB 1068 Memory 1068 SPP 2500 MCP 2500 GPU Core 576 GPU mem 900 new CPU 1,3125v Memory 2,1V FSB 1,2V only changed SLI ready disable (think this might have killed the motherboard...) Joe99
No, my system is still freezing. Keep in mind i´ve runned this high Voltage settings over a half year without any problems. I´ve never checked the voltage before. Just came home started the system and after 5 min freez
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 8, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 8, 2008 Can you tell me the exact settings you have set?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 9, 2008 Have you tried doing a fresh Install of the O.S. on a Virgin HDD and see if you can identify when the freeze starts to happen, if its happening when it's in the post process I would suggest asking the MB Maker to check the MB for you or see if they will rma the CPU based on what you have posted. Joe99
Tried some new installs and the problem somtimes starts on installing the O.S. Im trying to rma the Motherboard. :-( Thanks for help!!
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 9, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 9, 2008 NP and please let me know how you make out! In addition, I have no problem replacing the modules as well if you want to try that as well.
Joe99
Hi again, got the Mainboard back from RMA with no erros. So ive started testing again and found out something new. 1 problem solved by uninstalling w-lan card but 1 problem is still remaining the system freezes are still iminent, but if i uninstall 1 Ram module (even which one i take) of the 4 modules the system freezes are gone. Which are the best setting for this bios options Vcore Voltage Memory Voltage 1,2V HT Voltage NB Core Voltage SB Core Voltage CPU VTT Voltage DDR2 Controller Ref Voltage DDR2 Channel A Ref Voltage DDR2 Channel B Ref Voltage
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 1, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 1, 2008 What are you setting the memory frequency to? I would suggest DDR800 with that CPU and MB with 4 modules.
Joe99
800 is set since the mobo is back from RMA and it´s still freezing. Which are the best setting for this bios options Vcore Voltage Memory Voltage 1,2V HT Voltage NB Core Voltage SB Core Voltage CPU VTT Voltage DDR2 Controller Ref Voltage DDR2 Channel A Ref Voltage DDR2 Channel B Ref Voltage i dont know where i have to set the VDIMM. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 4, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 4, 2008 Memory Voltage should be 2.2 Volts and the NB Core Voltage should be increased .05 Volts as well.
Joe99
Increased .05V ok, but how high is this 1,55V 1,25V i dont know what the correct voltages are
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 6, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 6, 2008 What is the default? If you do not know please ask the MB maker?
Joe99
OK, ill set it to 1,35v the system run stabel almost a week. I was lucky like a little child. But now it is crashing again and something new came up on system startup (bios bootscreen). The Energy save symbol (the yellow one in the upper right corner) somtimes comes up in diffuse vertikal lines. totally scrambeled. If i reboot the system starts a reeboot loop. If i pull out 1 of the 4 RAM modules the system runs perfect. But i havent testet if this is permanent or if it is only temporarly. Sorry i cant describe it better in english. Is there an german support page. I have no ideas. Might this caused by a Virus ?? im running 2 AV scanners and 2 Trojan scanners and the only things i get are tracking cookis. Trem
This sounds really similar to a problem I am having. Running Vista 64, with 4gb of ram, my comp has been freezing (seemingly at random). Freezes were complete. No response from computer at all, no blue screen, no shutdown. Just, locked. I noticed that this was happening more frequently when I was uncompressing large archives or downloading large files, so I disabled write-caching and the comp has been stable for 48 hours (despite downloading about 35gb of trash, just as a test). See if you can disable disk caching and stabilize your machine.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted February 13, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted February 13, 2008 Are you using Windows Vista? If so there is a Service Pack you can try and see if that helps.
Joe99
Tx i will try both, disabeling Write cache (which one you maen, the 16 mb cache of the hdd or an other when it is an other where can i set it?) and the sp if the sp is not longer beta. I already tryed the RC1 and nothing changed
Joe99
But remember the problems are now at starting the Comp. On bootup!!! just before any part of the bs is loaded.

Joe99
Is it possible to get 1 4gb kit (2x2gb) instead of 2 2gb kits (4x 1gb)? I think this could be the problem. If i only use 3 Modules the system runs fine, even which of the 4 modules i use. I tried every possible kombination.
Joe99
I requested RMA. Thanks to all, very good support!!!
