tyndallc
I have looked at that configurator. However, after finally finding my manual that came with the laptop. It says in there that the max memory is on 2GB. But the configurator says a max of 4GB. Also, the configurator stats the processor is a core 2 duo. I do not have a core 2 duo, only a core duo. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted January 2, 2008 Corsair Employees Share Posted January 2, 2008 Is this the 5610 or 5610z? If 5610 it will support up to 4GB, if 5610z up to 2GB.
tyndallc
its just the 5610. the sticker on the top of the laptop says its an: "Aspire 5610-4612" On the bottom its says its the 5610 series, not 5610z
eggy78
that although the acer manual states that both the 5610 and 5610z support 4GB of memory ( manual p. 23), I can't get it to recognize more than 2GB in my 5610z (5610-2328). The BIOS (and CPU-Z) will both correctly show that I have 2.5GB installed, but on POST it only shows 2GB. Installing 4GB makes the screen blank at POST, so I don't know what happens at that point, but the system never comes up. Also, changing the order of the 2GB + 512MB stick I have will cause the same behavior. This is using Corsair VS2GSD667D2 2GB sticks. I realize this may be slightly off-topic, but I thought it might serve as a useful warning to other people looking to do this and maybe they'll stumble on this thread.
