Is the HX620 dead or is it no-load

Hello

 

I just got myself a HX620, now before removing present PSU and sticking it in I though I will do a quick test on it (nothing connected to it). I felt the fan would not spin on the PSU, which it did not, I checked pin out voltages on a standard 4-pin output, NOTHING!!, now is this PSU dead or is it because it is clever enough to know it has no load to pass current through?

Answers would be greatly appricated.

First, you need to connect something (HDD, case fans, etc.) to the psu and put a load on it. Now use a paper clip and connect the only green wire and a black wire. Flip the switch and hope for the best. :whip:

so is ok to just connect a optical drive unit which might be the easest, will look inside PC to see anything else.

I would use something cheap like a fan.

I did use the HDD, it works, but sadly for me its still a return!! somewhere inside is a clear plastic protector which is loose and when the fan works its casuing it to rattle!!! haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Are you talking about the Clear molex connector on the PSU being faulty? If so then you can email ramguy@corsairmemory.com with your name, address and phone number and request a new molex cable.
