RAM Differences between Acer Aspire 9410 and Aspire 9410Z

Following the Memory Configurator, I was directed to buy:

DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) SODIMM 2GB (x2 for 4 Gig total)

But after buying it and finding it not working I researched further and found that the "9410Z" is slightly different, and requires:

(According to Acer's site)

DDR2-533 SODIMM (with a MAX of 2GB in the machine)

The reason I'm posting is that your Memory Configurator refers to the "9410" as the "9410 Series" and had no separate designation for the "9410Z", which led me astray.

Perhaps an update to your database is in order?

(...and I wouldn't grumble at a reimbursement for my shipping and restocking costs, if you agree that my following the Memory Configurator should not have led me down the wrong path.)

Thanks very much!

You are absolutely correct, there is a difference between the 9410 and 9410z. The 9410 is based on the Intel 945GM chipset and teh 9410z is based on the Intel 943GML chipset. THe 943GML chhipset does not support more than 2GB and maybe limited to 1GB per slot. If you have any issues returning the product to the reseller please give us a call at 888-222-4346 for the Technical Support Department. Direct the Technical Support Specialist to this thred for refernece and we can assist on a refund.

We take 100% responsibilty on this mistake, but it also makes no sense why manufacturers would use an identical part number and just add a suffix for two different chipset platforms. We will update the configurator to prevent this in the future.

Thank you for your understanding.
