Abit AN52 / CM2X1024-6400 Problem?

lo guys,

Started having major problem trying to play Battlefield 2142. Full explanation here http://forums.cclonline.com/showthread.php?t=8286

Is my motherboard and RAM compatible? I can't see the Abit AN52 on the compatability chart.

Anyone have any advice for me? Putting more voltage into the RAM is helping but still getting lockups and slowdowns.

Anyone know what the DIMM1/2/3/4 speeds should be set at in BIOS?

One tiime of the year when I get chance to play 2142 and its gone pear shapped. :(

What version of memtest are you using, should be http://www.memtest.org?

And those modules should have the memory voltage set to 1.9 Volts, Please make sure that you have the latest Bios version and then load setup/optimized defaults and set the Dim Voltage to 2.0 volts and then set the timings manually to the tested settings for the specific module you have, or if you have Value Select "BY SPD" and then test the module/'s one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! If you still get errors, please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

Thx RAM GUY :)

I'm using the latest version from the memtest website u've linked me to (v1.70).

I'm unsure as to what you are asking me to do with regards to RAM voltage?

1.9v or 2.0v?

I've set the following manually

Cas 5

Trcd 5

Trp 5

Tras 12

2T Command

I'm unsure about what to set Trc to though. Its set at 23 when using auto.

Also, do you know what latency to set the DIMM slots to? My DIMM1 slot keeps resetting itself to 105ns and DIMM2/3/4 are set to 75ns.

Do I need to set these all to 75ns? Or some other setting?

Cheers,

T4i

What about these timings:-

Twtr

Trtp

Trc

Trrd

Trfc0

Trfc1

Trfc2

Trfc3

I just tried 2.0v for RAM and still got the same problem. Maybe its not RAM afterall. God knows now!

I've just ran OCCT using its 30min test and it passed. Ran Othos and that came back with no errors either.

One thing I have noticed is the CPU temp is alot higher when in games than running a CPU stress (10 degrees higher in games) - why is this? Surely if something is using the CPU cores at 100% then the temps should be all the same?

Fixed it

Was up till 1:30am at it and finally had a break through.

Went over to Corsair forums and got some inspiration from another user on there who has similar video crashes to me and pretty much same setup apart from he had a Asus mobo.

Things I've done to fix my PC:-

RAM is now running at 1.90V and not 1.85V (Data sheet for my RAM says 1.9V)

Timings are all entered manually because the Abit mobo was picking my RAM timings up from each module seperately. Because I run a MATCHED PAIR the timings are slightly different from just having one module installed.

So they are running as they should be as specified from Corsair.

CAS 5

TRCD 5

TRP 5

TRAS 12

TRC 24

2T Command (matched pair) instead of 1T (single module).

Ran memtest86 over night and its done 13 passes with not a single error in sight

BF2142 runs sweet again now. Still unsure as to why my system was ok all on auto and running @ 1.85v till now but thats technology for you!

Bring on 2142 now!

Cheers for the advice chaps.
