Habitz
For 6 months now i've used a pair of CM2x1024-8500C5D XMS sticks in my system with no problems whatsoever. All of a sudden i'm getting C1 post errors on my MB and a computer that won't boot. After some trial and error i've found I can boot with no problems using only 1 stick(either stick). When I try both sticks though, it will not post and I get the C1 error. Why would it work with one stick but not two...? Is the ram faulty or does that sound like a memory controller problem? I've read that using more than 2.1 volts can fry the EVGA 680i boards but if that was the case would 1 stick still work in any slot like mine? Temperature is not a problem.. i'm using the corsair ram fan and everything else is watercooled(cpu,nb,sb,hdd's). What happened to my ram!!! bigbuck08
If both modules work I dont think it is a RAM issue. Do you have any other RAM to try in your motherboard?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2007 Sounds like a motherboard issue, if the modules work individually there is no reason why they wouldn't work together in dual channel. Does the system work with both modules installed in single channel? Also, I'd agree with BigBuck, if possible you should test these modules in a different system, or try some different modules in your own system. Habitz
In hindsight, I should of ran memtest before posting because i probably could of answered my own question. I've run memtest on both modules individually now and found that one of the sticks has a whole lot of errors while the other passed with 0 errors. At first i could still boot with the failed stick but not any more... When I try I always get the C1 error now, but the stick that passed posts fine with no problems. Still think it might be the MB or is it that one stick is poop? Unfortuantly My other systems are only ddr not ddr2 so i'm unable to try them in another computer. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 27, 2007 If you have the voltage set to at least 2.1 volts and one of them is passing memtest and the other fails, then Let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.
