Lightguy186
I had the TWIN2X2048-8500C5D G v1.2 and just recently received the same package but the ram in it was v2.3 and they don't seem to like each other when I put them in my computer. How might I get these to work together?
bigbuck08
Could you be more specific as to what is happening please? The difference in versions could cause an issue but i dont think that is a problem.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 27, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 27, 2007 With 4 modules on that MB I would suggest setting the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the memory frequency at DDR800.
Lightguy186
I do not find that to be very acceptable. These are the same model RAM sticks, and the were purchased to be used at 1066. Is there anything else I can do to get this to work? I set the voltage to 2.15 as the v2.3 sticks demand but windows vista will still bluescreen after extended use. bigbuck08
I am sorry but it is a limitation of the memory controller on the motherboard. It cannot handle having all four DIMM slots populated at the RAM's rated speed. This is why you have to lower the DRAM speed to achieve stability. You can however try overclocking your CPU which will give you some room to increase the DRAM speed.
PimpYo
just setup your FSB in your bios to 1066 and put ur FSB mode to linked 1:1 so ur ram and fsb are 1066mhz. then run memtest86 for a full pass (should take about 1-2hours) and see if you get any errors. I assume u are running vista 64bit.
Lightguy186
Oh ok, I didn't know that limitation about my motherboard. The FSB on my motherboard is already 1333, which is stock for the board. There is still the problem of the v1.2 sticks and the v2.3 sticks wanting different voltage. If I were to overclock the FSB a bit to get faster speeds on the RAM, what should I set the RAM voltage to?
bigbuck08
Yes, I would set the Vdimm to 2.0v and see if its stable. If not raise it to 2.1v but do not go any higher.
