mrwalker12
Split off from: Memory Compatibility Requests Make: Compaq Presario Model: C706NR Chipset: Mobile Intel 9605 Express Processor: Intel Celeron M 530 Memory capacity desired: 1.5 GB I have 1024 MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 Dimm) in my laptop right now and i was trying to replace one of the 512 MB chips with a Corsair Value Select 1 GB DDR2 533 MHz PC2-4200 (VS1GSDS533D2). The laptop works fine without the replacement but when i replace the one chip with the new chip the computer does not boot up. the power button lights up but no screen comes up. Is it because my laptop isnt compatible?
bigbuck08
If you are adding the new module to what you had that is probably why it doesnt work.

bigbuck08
If it is the same Part Number most likely it will work.

bigbuck08
I am sorry, but HP does not give enough specs for your PC for me to tell you if the RAM will work or not. They say how much RAM but not at what speeds. You might have to buy specific RAM from HP. I do not know if it is proprietary or not. Contact HP customer service and see if they can help you get that info. Ram Guy, could you split this topic please?
