Xerran
Hello all, Would like to hear opinions on my RAM overclock. I have 4GB XMS2 (TWIN2X2048-6400C4) running 5-5-5-15 @ 1000MHz. How far better is 5-5-5-15 @ 1000MHz than the native 4-4-4-12 @ 800MHz ? http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c178/xerran/3125x928125MHz5-5-5-121GHz.jpg
Pilky
I'd also like to know this as i'm runnin the opposite at 4-4-4-12 @
bigbuck08
If i understand correctly, running at 5-5-5-15 @ 1000MHz is faster 4-4-4-12 @ 800MHz, but I am not sure by how much.
jplace03
If i understand correctly, running at 5-5-5-15 @ 1000MHz is faster 4-4-4-12 @ 800MHz, but I am not sure by how much. Take a look at this article, its a little dated but the same theory applies. http://techreport.com/articles.x/8966/1 this will give you a better idea on the impact of memory latency. I am gonna try both settings with my memory and do a 3dmark06 see what I get.
Xtreeme
There is a point where mhz beats better timings. However where that point is you would have to test to really know. I would think that 200mhz in bandwidth would counter that small amount of cas etc diff. Use everest and run the mem latency test. Compair the two that way and check the bandwidth too if you really want to see. Dont forget to let us know!:):
Witchdoctor
I just picked up some TWIN2x2048-6400C4 this week and I'm darn happy with it. Just tried overclocking it and so far stable with Prime95 and COD4 :) Q6600 fsb: 333 * 9 Vcore: 1.4 Current clock speed 533MHz @ 2.2v (DDR2-1066 :D) 5-4-4-10 in a P5K SE :) I'll have to run a memory test on the stuff but I think I'm in the clear :)

I'm especially eager to find out if you pass those tests. I need DDR2-1066 myself, so if I can achieve that through overclocking that would truly rock.
