CMX-2700C2 replacement help

Recommended Posts

Hello:

I have (2) cmx512-2700c2 in a Soyo SY-KT333 Dragon Ultra Platnum.

I would like to purchase and install (3) 1 gig modules that are as fast or faster then the 2.5's I will remove.

Thank you,

Oneshot

(Only do it once!)

Ps. Unfortunitly you didn't have "cmx1024-2700c2" and you don't have it now.

Unfortuantely, the VIA KT333 chipset supports only two sticks of memory at DDR333 (PC2700) speed. If you fill up all three memory slots, you will have to run the memory at a slower DDR266 (PC2100) speed. This is a limitation of that chipset and its associated memory controller.

And although Soyo is still in business, it no longer manufactures or distributes motherboards.

Are you saying my computer is OLD?:laughing::laughing:

Hey, dirt is much older :D:

Now for the (2) 1 meg chip recomendations? (2700 c2)

Actually, things change rather rapidly in the computer world. No new system has been using DDR(1) memory in over two years. (And that's not counting Serial ATA/SATA has supplanted IDE as the choice for hard drive interfaces, and that PCI-Express has all but replaced AGP as a graphics card interface.)

And there is no PC2700 module in current production which runs at CL2 latency. You could try the TWIN2X2048-3200C2 kit, but you'll have to set the memory timings manually in the BIOS to 2-3-3-5 or 2.5-3-3-5 rather than the standard 2-3-3-6 or 2.5-3-3-6 timings. Otherwise, the only current PC2700 modules which Corsair currently makes is the Value Select VS1GB333 (you will need two of them to get to 2GB), which has a latency rating of CL2.5 (2.5-3-3-7).
