ELW
Hi there, Please let me know which Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) RAM kit is best suited for the following system: Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 GHz 1333 MHz FSB Motherboard: Asus P5W64 WS Professional 975X Chipset Video card: XFX nVidia GeForce 7600GS 400MHz GPU 256MB 700MHz DDR2 2x dual DVI fanless PCIe x16 Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar SE16 500GB 7,200 RPM SATA-300 16MB Power supply: Corsair HX520W Optical writer: Samsung DVD±RW DL 20x 2MB LightScribe SATA Operating system: Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit Edition I am interested in general usage at standard specs (no over-clocking). Is it true that 2x2GB is faster than 4x1GB? I see the following two kits, but not sure if the latency specs are the best fit for my non-over-clocking needs: TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB) 5-5-5-18-2T 240pin DIMM Dominator TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX 4GB Kit (2 x 2GB) 5-5-5-18-2T 240pin DIMM Dominator Interested in your advice. Thanks!!
Yellowbeard
You'll never see any differences between 4 x 1gb vs 2 x 2gb if you are not OCing. The 2 kits you listed are excellent choices for that ASUS board. ELW
I see that some of the 4x1GB @ 1066MHz kits are faster than the 2x2GB @ 800MHz kits. For my particular configuration, would I be better off with a 2x2GB @ 800Mhz kit listed in my message above or a 4x1GB @ 1066 MHz kit listed below? Let's assume cost is not a factor and no over-clocking requirement. QUAD2X4096-8500C5 4GB Kit (4 x 1GB) 5-5-5-15-2T 240pin DIMM Black QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF 4GB Kit (4 x 1GB) 5-5-5-15-2T 240pin DIMM Dominator
Yellowbeard
The only way you'll see the difference between the 800 and 1066 speeds are if you are OCing your CPU substantially past 400mhz. If you are doing a modest OC, FSB 425 or lower, get the PC6400 4gb 2 x 2gb DHX kit. If you want to be guaranteed of going past 425, get the PC8500 kit.
