dickfrey
Good morning, i would like to buy the power supplies 620HX. But i see that "Supports the latest ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 standards and is backwards compatible with ATX12V 2.01 systems". My motherboard is ATX 12V 2.0 compliant. There will be problems because in the description of HX620 there is V2.01 and not 2.0 ? What's the difference ? I see in another thread http://www.asktheramguy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=58918&highlight=a8n-sli+deluxe that PowerGuy says "No known issues with the Abit board, but if you're looking for Socket 939/DDR setups, the Asus A8N-SLI Premium and A8N32-SLI Deluxe have both been known to work as well. The Abit board should work, but our testing was much less extensive there.". I have downloaded the manual of both and they are like the mine, ATX V2.0. PowerGuy or someone can you help me ? Thank you very much
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 Our HX620w should not have a problem working with your A8N-SLI Deluxe.
dickfrey
Thank you for your reply ! Can i ask you another thing ? I know that the 12V line is needed for CPU and graphic cards... But 3.3V and 5V ? Wich parts of a PC need them ? I ask this because i am in doubt to buy a 520HX or a 620HX ! There are 6A of difference in the 5V line... Thanks a lot:biggrin:
EliteKiller
With newer hardware such as Socket 939 it's no longer necessary to have hefty 3.3V or 5V rail. Those rails typically provide power to DIMM slots, AGP/PCI slots, chipsets, and electronic circuits. Since you own a 6600GT the HX520 would provide more than enough power for you system. It would allow you to add another 6600GT for SLI (not recommended since it's old technology), or you could upgrade to a G92 series and still have plenty of headroom in the psu for future expansion. dickfrey
Thank you for your reply ;): I would like to substitute my 6600GT with a new 8800GT. So i'm looking for a new PSU. And i would like to know wich components are powered by 3.3V and 5V. But i'm seeing in a lot of post that the PSUs 520hx and 620hx too have problems with this graphic board. And i think that it will be worse with a Radeon 3850 that alone requires 30A ! What do you think about ?

This is a common misconception, and the (30A+) power recommendation is for the entire pc. Since the 3850 has a single 6-pin PCIe connector the max power it could ever consume is 150W (12.5A). However the 3850's peak power consumption is around ~90W max. http://guru3d.com/article/Videocards/472/
