deadfox
I am currently running a Compaq Presario Media Center SR2039x. The closest model i can find on the memory configurator is the SR2038X which it says has ddr2. The problem i am having is i just purchased 2 pairs of ddr2 twin2x matched memory and they dont fit in my computer. I need to know if i have ddr(1) or if there is another problem. As the store i purchased them from refuses to exchange them and told me to send them back to corsair. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanx

Oddly, the SR2038x is a newer model than the SR2039x. You simply got the wrong memory for your system. Your SR2039x uses DDR(1) memory. And OEM systems have no provision at all whatsoever to manually set memory speed, timings or voltage. As a result, you'll have to settle for two VS2GBKIT400C3 kits if you want 4GB, and the OEM system will force DDR333 speed instead of DDR400 with more than two sticks installed. On the other hand, ignore my suggestion of the VS2GBKIT400C3 kits. This is because the SR2039x requires IC components from a specific manufacturer, and any aftermarket DDR(1) modules might not work at all on your system. As such, you might have to special-order memory designed specifically for your system.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 If your system is not listed I would suggest using the memory that was suggested from that respective manufacturer. Sorry!
