lowdog
Hi, I have purchased 2 kits of this memory, total 8GB for use under Vista 64bit. Using an Asus P5K-Premium and a Q6600. Ram specs on the package are; TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G and the Corsair spread sheet for these modules specifies 1.8v with timings of 5-5-5-18. The site I purchased the modules from specify timings of 5-5-5-15. However the modules themselves have these specs on the heatspreader; XMS 6405 v1:1 - CM2X2048 6400C5 - 5-5-5-12. Now what gives, CPU-Z shows the SPD as 5-5-5-18, so fair enough, does this mean the modules have been labled with the wrong specs on the heatspreaders??? I've been running these modules so far (total 8GB) with 1.9v at 5-5-5-12 at 800MHz and they pass memtest without issue, gaming is fine but on occasions I get the odd "TDR" - "Nvlddmkm stoped responding and has recovered" issue which seems pretty common around the traps and was wondering if this may somehow bee related to running the ram at incorrect volts or timings?? What actually are these modules and what volts and timings should I be running them at. Thanks, hope the jist of what I'm stating is clear enough to initiate a response. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 20, 2007 I am sorry but the tested settings would be Cas 5-5-5-18 at 1.8 Volts but I would suggest setting them to 1.9-2.0 Volts and make sure the TRC if its listed is set to 24 and I would set the NB/MCH Voltage to +.05 Volts! And the error you reported would be a Video Driver issue, I would check with the maker of the Video card you have about that issue.
lowdog
Thanks for the reply, had a feeling what you mentioned regarding the ram was indeed the case. Just found it strange as to why the timings on the heatspreader were listed as 5-5-5-12.....QC issue? ;): Thanks again, looks like I'll have to live with 5-5-5-18 then :(:
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 Can you give me the lot code on the modules so I can report this to our Production manager and maybe he can kick some AXX?
lowdog
Looking at the pic linked to your post regarding lot code; well there is nothing that looks like that number in that position on the spreader sticker. So I'm just going to give all the numbers from the spreader sticker and you can desipher it all :D: N11360 ACCT70800168 1468292 07291167 Hope they help....looks like my ram comes from Mars. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 I have reported that to our production manager and I am sure they will check that and we will do something to prevent this in the future.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 Wait Cas 5-5-5-12 is correct for those modules at 1.9 Volts.
lowdog
Wait Cas 5-5-5-12 is correct for those modules at 1.9 Volts. LOL, what  Are you sure because the Corsair spread sheet for the TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G states 5-5-5-18 @ 800MHz. I have been running them @ 5-5-5-12 with 1.9v though.....so your saying this is correct. I'm confused atm as to what these modules actually are and what they are speced for. Remember the sticker on the spreader states CM2X2048-6400C5 yet the packaging states TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G, so why the discrepancie with the 2X2048 and 2X4096? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2007 Jee's to many modules to remember them all and sorry I miss read them; they should be Cas 5-5-5-18 for the 2 Gig modules. CM2X2048-6400C5 or 6400C5DHX

CM2X2048-6400C5 or 6400C5DHX Okay so let me get it clear. After looking at the pics I uploaded of the modules I have which are the 2 X 2048 for a total of 4096GB per kit and I'm running 2 kits for a total of 8GB, your saying the correct timings for these are 5-5-5-12...correct? Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2007 LOL No sorry the tested settings for these modules would be Cas 5-5-5-18 at 1.8 Volts with one set of modules.

Okay thats clear then. So we are back to the issue with the modules being labled with incorrect timing specifications on the heatspreader sticker then.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 22, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 22, 2007 Yes they are miss labeled sorry. But if the system is running I would leave it alone. But if you see any data corruption set the TRAS to at least 15.

kration
I've just bought this RAM-pack as part of a system build in the UK. Do I need to make the company building the system aware of any issues in relation to this?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 26, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 26, 2007 If they are our reseller I am sure they know what to do, but if they do not sell our memory then yes I would mention it to them.
curley60
Can you verify that I am reading the compatibility charts correctly in that this memory will "NOT" work in a P5K-E WIFI/AP. CM2X2048-6400C5 DHX 5-5-5-18 1.80V Ver. 4.1 08040761 I tried them and they do not work in this motherboard and want to make sure before I get another motherboard to test them. I'm upgrading one of my computers which are all running 184pin DDR, therefore no motherboard to test them in. Thanks
DerekT
Can you verify that I am reading the compatibility charts correctly in that this memory will "NOT" work in a P5K-E WIFI/AP. CM2X2048-6400C5 DHX 5-5-5-18 1.80V Ver. 4.1 08040761 These should be fine in the P5K-E. Remove, the power cord. Remove the CMOS battery for a few hours. Re-insert the Battery. Re-insert the power cord. Insert a single stick in the slot closest to the CPU. Restart the system. If it doesn't start up, then shut down and remove the first stick and replace it with the second stick. Results?
curley60
Hi, One worked and the other stick did not. What is the next step? Aren't these memory modules tested individually before they ship? That was a big selling point for this purchase. I have always used Corsair for as far back as I can remember but I really needed these to work because I paid for overnight shipping, and it was crucial, no pun intended, that I get this machine running. While waiting for your guidance and instructions, I overnighted some Crucial memory because I still had to get this box going. Now the box is running and I need to get these modules exchanged. So I await further instructions. Thank You

curley60
Hi, Frys.com has cross shipped me another set and has accepted the defective modules since I just bought them 2 days ago. I will receive the new ones tomorrow so I can change out the other brand with the new corsair modules. Thanks for the Help, In 10 years, I've only been here twice. Good record. I remember the PC150 memory that I used to clock up the PIIIs. That was amazing stuff also. Thanks
