brains1
Hello Building an Amd System I have a new K9A2 Platinum with Phenom 9500. I have 4 dominator sticks of ram in the system and it wont post. I take out 2 so I just have 2 sticks and it wont post. I leave just one stick in there and the system post just fine. I have swapped all ram so they post when just one stick in. I have the 1066MHZ PC2 8500C5 This is a new system these problems happened on the first post. I have not changed any settings in the bios. I am running bios version 1.0 My system AMD Phenom 9500 MSI K9A2 Platinum Corsair 8500C5D G 1GB x 4 ATI Diamond 3850 Antec Eathpower 80+ 500watts No overclocking just looking for post. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 20, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 20, 2007 Brian you really need a bigger PSU with that configuration, but I would try and set the memory frequency at DDR800 and set the memory voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH Voltage to +.05 Volts and see if it will post with all four installed. brains1
Kingston Tech KVR1066D2N7K2/2G Is this a load of junk? I am only looking to put two sticks in this machine. So 2gbs. Not the full 4gbs I do have a larger powersupply on hand an Antec True 550. Just takes the time to unhook it from a machine and put it in this one. What wattage would you like to see in a system like this? Could it be that your ram will not ever work in this board. Seems to be better quality then a Kingston stick. Tried the voltage change and just put in the two sticks so 2gbs didnt help still got a no post then a checksum bios error after putting just one stick in Thanks Brain
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 MSI Says they only support One Memory Brand XXXXXXXXX Tech KVR1066D2N7K2/2G Well that is pretty weak in my opinion, if it will work with any other module there is no reason it would not work with ours. But if both modules will run and pass one up with http://www.memtest.org that would suggest a problem with the MB or PSU. Did you test the modules one at a time to make sure one was not failing at their tested settings?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 21, 2007 In addition, we have sent an email to MSI to try and help you get a solution, but it looks like it might just be a BIOS issue. However can you tell me the revision of our modules it's on the lable? (How To Read the Memory Label) And what MB BIOS version do you have installed now? EDIT: We just got an email from MSI and there is indeed a BIOS comming that should fix that issue, according to the Sales manager of MSI and I quote As far as I knew, we will come up a bios shortly for EPP-1066/1200 memory which will resolve the DDR2-1066/1200 issues customer reported. Should available next week.

brains1
Tried new Bios 1.22 from MSI. Nothing in the Phenom system. Same wont post with the two stick in it. Interestingly. I have another system. With the same motherboard. Same Ram. With a black edition x2 5000 cpu. When I updated that system to the 1.22 bios. It saw both sticks of ram no problem. So I am wondering what is going on. Is it the board. The bios. The CPU?? Also that Bios as the TLB fix. Which is no good. No way to turn it off. Help!!! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 31, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 31, 2007 If the modules are working in a different system then there is probably not an issue with the memory. The problem may lie in either the motherboard or the CPU, since the memory controller is embedded in the CPU.
