boogieman
With these Quad cores running really hot I decided to forgo quiet and install a variable speed fan on it. I crank it up when under load and slow it down while surfing. Ain't purdy but it's affective. It dropped my Primed, 100% load temperatures by 5-6 deg C. I also have a water block on my 8800GTS SSC that runs at 47 deg C. http://www.asktheramguy.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2939&d=1198092888
Maziv
Wicked, but don't you void the warrnty doing that? anyway is there away to hack the fan speeds so I can make it go faster on 100% Load
boogieman
I've had the unit for about 18 month's, I think it's out of warranty. Anyway, this mod can be undone without knowing it was done. No wiring changes, no noticeable holes and so on. The fan controller is held on with D'face tape. anyway is there away to hack the fan speeds so I can make it go faster on 100% Load Not that I know of. The new fan changes speeds with the knob. Been testing this in Crysis, all high settings, 1680 x 1050 and my temp's stay below 50 C. :)

Wired
Got any pics of the inside of the PC? One day I'll re-set up the WC Gallery here, maybe when vB 3.7.0 comes out...
boogieman
Hi Wired. I'm in the process of uploading detailed info about this fan install. Pic's of inside case? yea I do but it ain't pretty. I don't have one of those fancy cases with flashy lights and so on. I'm more about go and not show  Currently updating my site, here's what there so far. Going to work on that fan mod next. https://home.comcast.net/~boogie3/
stev
boogieman, It's been a while since I've poked my head into these forums. Glad to see you're now mod'ing a N500 since the HC200 days. Yes, removing the screen and opting for a real fan guard helps with air flow. In other words, remove the blink look and get performance. ;): Peace! boogieman
Hehe thanks ! I've since retired that N500. It sits in the corner awful lonely. Added more cooling power with the Swiftech stuff. Regards
Sarsa
Hi there! :D: Nice work you did there...I have a small question. How did you open the case without breaking it? unscrew the screws which are under the case or did you have to force a bit to open it. Is it also possible to open the case while it is functioning? Thanx in advance:!:

Thanx in advance:!: Hi Remove the rubber pads underneath on the four corners. Phillips head screws are inside the legs. This mod can be done by unplugging the hoses from the pump/fan unit, no need to drain it. More info here. https://home.comcast.net/~boogie3/Build%20Notes.htm Scroll down a bit. Sarsa
Ooh, You are great! I'll first wait and see if I get a second reply from Ramguy about the problem I have with the fan.. But you bet I end up in the future putting a faster fan like yours. :D: Thanks a lot for the fast reply!
