kataaro
Hi, I have Beeen having a lot of problems with my system outlined below, the problems are massive instability, blue-screening and general crashing of Windows .. P5N32-E SLI Plus Intel Q6600 (Quad core - 2.4Ghz) 4 x VS2GB667D2 (4 modules / 8GB total Memory - 667) 2 x BFG Geforce8800GTXOC 768MB 500GB Hitachi Deskstar HDD 750Watt Power Supply I have Version 0805 Bios and it is the latest Bios. I have run Memtest86+ on Each memory module independantly and there are no errors at all. I have also put in 2 modules (4gb total) and again no errors. I dot even get any errors when I have all 4 (8GB total) modules in so I can rule out probmlens with the memory itself. The problem is when I install all the memory modules I have loads of problems with stability in ANY OS. I have tried both 64 and 32bit equivs of XP and Vista and also Win2k but still have stability problems. I am aware that I need to manually set up the voltages and timings for the ram to improve stability. I have been looking throuh the forums and there are various timings / settings for different ram for this MB. I would just like to know what timings/settings I would require with my system setup of this MB and this particular Ram. Many thanks for any help you can provide me.. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 Can you tell us the complete system configuration and O.S. you are using?
kataaro
Hi.. Well the system configuration is as mentioned in prev post.. P5N32-E SLI Plus Intel Q6600 (Quad core - 2.4Ghz) 4 x VS2GB667D2 (4 modules / 8GB total Memory - 667) 2 x BFG Geforce8800GTXOC 768MB 500GB Hitachi Deskstar HDD 750Watt Power Supply I have versions of Win XP & Vista.. both 32bit and 64bit and still have the same problems in both..I am aware of the memory limitations of the non 64bit OSs. Also I just did another mem test with all 4 modules in and do actually get errors in test 4.. But not on each individual module... thanks for the assistance by the way :) At the moment I have reset the bios to defaults until I can get the correct settings... Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 Try setting the memory Voltage to 2.0 Volts and set the NB/MCH Voltage to +.05 Volts as well then test them again with http://www.memtest.org. kataaro
hi, thanksa gain... I have set the Memory Voltage to 2.0 but when you say +0.5 to NB/MCH, I am not sure abnout that.. under NB it starts : - Auto 1.20V 1.25V 1.30V And so on increasing in =0.5 intervals so which should I set it to? the 1.20v? also what is the MCH? cant find that Also should I leave everything else at default? again many many thanks for your help Thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 Please tell me what 1.20V - 1.25V =???
kataaro
hi, sorry... You said to set the NB to +0.5 right.. Well under voltages, all I can find is the "NB Core Voltage" and that is what goes up from 1.20V in 0.5V increments.. should I be changing that? I cant find any other NB option... thanks
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 Yes please try it at 1.25 Volts.

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 Did you have legacy USB disabled and are you running http://www.memtest.org? And have you tested the modules one at a time?
kataaro
OK I have re-checked it.. and 1 of the modules does error completely when installed on its own.. I think that is the problem.. The other 3 are fine and have no errors.. Should I send that module back for replacement? also if I send that back, can I run the system with 3 of the ram modules in? or do I have to stick to either 2 or 4 modules? Many thanks again.. as I said, 1 ofthe modules throws errors up when I use memtest with it on its own... :( advice?

Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 You will need to get the failing module replaced as set, we cannot replace just one module from a set. Sorry!
kataaro
Oh, I bought the system with the 4 ram chips already installed and I am not sure which of the other 3 is the one that goes with this one.. On the sides of the chips the ID's read.. 2124371 <-- this is the 2GB Ram Module that is causing errors in memcheck 2124355 2124356 2124357 I cant see that these modules are twin-pair memory but Which ones do I need to return to you for the replacement?? many thanks
kataaro
Hi, just a bump as I am not sure which modules to send back.. see below.. many many thanks again :) "Oh, I bought the system with the 4 ram chips already installed and I am not sure which of the other 3 is the one that goes with this one.. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 You need to match the lot code not the SN Number! (How To Read the Memory Label)
kataaro
Hi, according to your link, the numbers I gave you before are the lot codes as far as I can see (the 5th label down from the top).. the only numbers, anywhere on the labels are.. (Model No.) / (Lot Code) / (Serial Number) VS2GB667D2 / 2124355 / 07441159 VS2GB667D2 / 2124356 / 07441159 VS2GB667D2 / 2124357 / 07441159 VS2GB667D2 / 2124371 / 07441159 <--- faulty chip As I mentioned, I am not sure which of these goes together... the other 3 have consequtive numbers but the faulty chip does not follow that numbering.. Or is it possible that they all 4 are 1 set?.. Again, these are the ONLY numbers anywhere on the chips.. I am still confused.. haha sorry, for my being such an annoyance.. Thanks for anything you can clear up for me..
