Computer Constantly Blue Screens with memory installed.

Remove memory and Computer boots up normally.

I have 4GB running Vista Ultimate 64bit. Worked fine for the few months I had the RAM installed. I also removed the working Ram and put these two dims in their place and the system also bluescreened.

Key System Specs are as follows:

eVGA 680i SLI A1 Version Motherboard

COre 2 Duo 2.66Ghz 1333mhz FSB 65nm

Raptor X 150GB HDD

2x eVGA 8800GT SC SLI

Please make sure that you have the latest BIOS for your motherboard and then load optimized defaults and set the Memory Voltage to 2.1 volts and then set the timings to 5-5-5-15 (CAS-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) and then test the pair of modules that are giving you the problems one at a time with http://www.memtest.org! Please allow memtest to run 2-3 passes on each module. If you still get errors, we will be happy to replace them! However, if you get errors with both modules that would suggest some other problem and I would test them in another system or MB to be sure.

ok I ran the test. I ran twice in all 4 slots, first with 1 stick, then I did it with two sticks.

0 errors. But When I put in more than 4 sticks I still get the blue screen. When I try to boot up in safe mode it locks up at one file (I'm an idoit and I forgot to write it down) it starts with "C" and it's a .sys file.

But I think the file name is irrevelant to the crash I'm getting.

Do you have any other suggesstions? I have no idea why it's doing this, I havent changed anything on my computer that I'm aware of. All I do is play WoW, Crysis and Hellgate London on it.

Make sure you have this patch from Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929777

Also with four modules you may need to make some other adjustments in the BIOS. I would recommend that you do the following:

FIRST THING CLEAR CMOS!!

Load Setup/Optimized Defaults

Memory Voltage: 2.1v

NB Core Voltage: 1.45v (this is technically overclocking the motherboard and must be done at your own risk)

SLI Ready: Disabled

FSB Memory Clock Mode: Unlinked

FSB QDR MHZ: Default/Auto

MEM DDR MHZ: 1066MHZ (try 800MHz if you do not want to overclock the motherboard)

TCL: 5

TRCD: 5

TRP: 5

TRAS: 15

Command Per Clock: 2T

TRC: 28

I was just browing another forum, and I noticed the 4GB Ram Hot Fix.

I don't mind overclocking the board at all, I am certain the board can handle it.

I was running 4GB of RAM at 800Mhz previously because I was told it was the safest for the Ram. (I think you explained it to me so I dont need to go into the reason why)

But I would like to run the Ram at it's rated timing, I did noticed an improvement when it was running at 1066 5-5-5-15 2T instead of the 800mhz 5-5-5-17 2T it was running at previously.

Thanks for the help I'll do all this tonight. Does clearing CMOS also mean I have to reinstall the latest Bios?

You will not have to reinstall a BIOS. Clearing CMOS will just make sure that the board is running at the factory defaults. Let us know how the testing goes!

running flawlessly.

5-5-5-15 2T 1066Mhz 4GB with your reccomended timings.

Now I'm going to attempt to overclock my processor again. I know I'm going to need to lower the 1066mhz to maybe 900 or something but this is a good start.
