markgr
I have 2 identical machines that have both been running Value select 1GB kits without issue for a couple of years. Recently I bought a value select 2GB kit from Dabs and installed it in 1 of the machines and removed the 1GB kit which was then installed into the second machine. The 2GB kit lasted about 2 days before the machine would not boot so this got RMA'd to Dabs. The second kit has lasted about 1 month before it also developed faults and is in the process of being RMA'd Is there a compatability problem with the 2GB kit and the KN8-SLI or have I just been unlucky. Note the second machine works fine with the 2 1GB kits installed to give it a total of 2GB of memory
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2007 If you have been through that many sets of memory like that I would suggest replacing the PSU and or getting the MB tested and or replaced. markgr
The catch is that this system has never had a problem with the 2 x 512MB sticks in the 1GB kit, they are approaching 2 years old. So why should the motherboard be destroying the 1GB sticks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2007 You went through two sets in less that 6 months correct? And its hard to say for sure with out seeing the MB but most likely Voltage spikes to the memory may cause that.
markgr
So what you are telling me is that the 1GB sticks are more fragile than the 512MB sticks (which are back in the machine and working fine). I guess I need to find some more 512MB sticks.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2007 No that is not what I said at all. Just submit the RMA request and let's get them replaced.
