Chilly
I have a ASUS Striker Extreme MB and using OCZ PC2-6400 and Intel processor E6400. I wanted to overclock my system and I purchased TWIN2X2048-8500C5D. After installation the system would not post, I tried everything. I put the OCZ back into the system and it posted fine. I installed the TWIN2X2048-8500C5D in my server and that machine posted fine. Now to my question..Are the TWIN2X2048-8500C5D compatable with the ASUS Strike Extreme as this site recommends for overclocking or not. Are there some compatability issues I missed? Please advise before I return them. Thankx
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2007 Yes they will run fine but you may need to reset the BIOS when you install them.
Chilly
I have reset the bios, disconnected the power, used different slots, installed one at a time and still no luck. I returned the set I had yesterday and installed the one I have today and still no post. I get a DET DRAM error on the LCD. This is frustrating
Chilly
After posting the last comment about the steps I took to trouble shoot my problems I remembered I didn't test one module at a time. After installing the first my machine didn't post, switched in the other module and the system posted fine. So once again I will return my memory with hopes the next set will be operational. Just a side not for all the Striker Extreme owners. The LCD posts will tell you almost nothing about problems, so don't get stuck on it's readings. For bad memory modules I have received the CPU INIT and DET DRAM hangs. These posts on the LCD tell you what sequence has passed and not what failed. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 19, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 19, 2007 With the module that works go to BIOS setup and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts after you load setup defaults and then exit and save the changes and install the other module. Chilly
I returned the half working modules and pick up yet another pair. YEAH, these work :-) I found I cannot over clock my processor from stock 2.2 to 3.2 on the striker like I could with the Gigabyte 965 chipset. If only the intel chips could run SLI. This memory works great, finally. Thankx for the help with the memory.
