unrise_lyrical
Hey all, currently building up my first computer (that IVE made). Here are the specs: Q6600 quad Gigabyte P35-DS3R (rev. 1.0) Corsair TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF (with airflow fan shroud) 8800 GTX gfx card anyway, I havent purchased the RAM yet, and I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it will be compatible with my other hardware? I spoke to a guy in the shop Im purchasing it from and he said any mobo with a P35 chipset will run fine...but I wanted to ask someone whos a bit more clued in and not just wanting to sell things.. Thanks in advance! :)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 17, 2007 Yes they will run great, but you will need the latest BIOS and then load setup defaults and set the tested settings and Voltage manually. Cas 5-5-5-15 at DDR1066 at 2.1 Volts.
unrise_lyrical
gday, thanks for the speedy reply! Where abouts do I get the latest BIOS from for my mobo? I have the driver CD that came with it...will I need to get a newer version than whats on there? Also, and I know this question is probably a bit too open-ended to answer, but when I switch it on for the first time, what "scary stuff" do I need to do? I was aware Id need to do SOMETHING with the ram in the BIOS (thought it was change the speed of it or something? didnt know i had to change the timing (thats what 5-5-5-15 is yea?)). cheers
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 18, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 18, 2007 I would ask the MB Maker about the BIOS and or just check their site and see whats posted. And yes when you first turn it on go to BIOS setup and load setup defaults and then set the tested settings and Voltage.
