irjonny365
Here is a real simple one folks. I have looked all thru the Corsair PS manual, all over the Internet, and no explanation. Apparently I am the only person who does not have the answer to the following: I have five 5 pin connectors on the PS. Are they all identical "plus 12 volt". Surely not. Where is the negative 12 volt, 3.3 volt, 5 volt, 5 VSB and so on. Shouldn't these be labeled on the PS case. Please forgive me for using an image I found on this forum. It is the same as my PS. Wired
Are you trying to trace individual wires?
irjonny365
Are you trying to trace individual wires? No, I only want to avoid damge to the new system. I am afraid I will accidentally connect my harddrive (or other) to the incorrect modular output on the PS. I assume the IDE harddrive is 12 volt (???). If that is the case, how can I be sure I have not unintentionally connected it to a 5 volt modular connector when I am unsure of their individual voltage rating. I have 5 modular connectors on the PS. Can I utilize anyone of these for my HD without regard to voltage. Are they all the same? Can anyone of them be used. I think this must be pretty basic stuff, but I want to be sure I do not fry something accidentally. Also, this is my second posting, have I utilized the thread correctly. EliteKiller
http://www.houseofhelp.com/v3/attachment.php?attachmentid=2056&d=1155657758 Plug any one of the 5 modular cables with the 5-pin connector into the psu, then use any of the 4-pin molex connectors on those cable for your hard drive and other devices with a 4-pin molex input. irjonny365
Excellent, this is the answer I was hoping for. I have the unit up and running now (well I am into the Bios anyway). First thing I noticed was the clicking of the PS fan; not sure if it is contacting the housing or what. I seem to recall someone else on this forum having the same problem so I have come here to look for that thread and perhpas the answer to my clicking issue. Hope it does not mean I have a bad PS as I am anxious to get this baby up and running. Thanks again for your help with the modular connectors and if you have any thoughts on the clicking PS I would be interested.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted December 17, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted December 17, 2007 If the fan is making the clicking sound then you can try loosening the 4 fan screws on the unit about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn, and see if it goes away. If the clicking remains then lets get it replaced! Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
irjonny365
Apparently it is only going to do this when I startup the computer. There is a soft clicking sound for the first 5 minutes or so and then it stops. I can not say it is an annoyance since it does not last for long, but I would like to know if there is an easy fix. Perhaps loosening the screws securing the grille is the answer. Thanks for the suggestion.
