JSY
I'm back! I returned the previous mobo, etc. I had that was giving me stability problems, and opted to go back to building on my own and hope I have better luck this time! I am now getting an Asus Maximus Formula that will have a QX9650 on it and I was wondering which was a better 4GB option: (using Vista 64bit of course) QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF (4 modules) TWIN2X4096-6400C5 (2 modules) I ask this because I understand that using 4 slots might force me to run the memory at 667 at which I would just consider the slower PC2-6400 speed. Or am I off line here? Also, not sure if anyone knows - but with the mobo/cpu combo above with the stock cooler, is it possible that the QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF or TWIN2X4096-6400C5DHX might have a spacing problem since the DIMMs are taller and might bump into the stock cooler? In my last setup, I tried using the TWIN2X4096-6400C5 and the module in slot A1 got really close to the cooler that I had on the QX6850, and that module had a shorter head spreader. Thanks...
