jfreidin
Is the VS2GSDSKIT667D2 (not listed in your parts database) is compatible with a Dell Inspiron 9300? It appears that in some cases PC2-5300 is less expensive than PC2-4200 (which is what that Dell Inspiron 9300 calls for). I have read that it's fine to use faster memory. In this case, the timings 4-4-4-12 vs. 5-5-5-15 seem to be very close, with the PC2-5300 slightly faster. What are the other issues here? Power consumption and heat? It would help if your system actually showed what systems this module is compatible with. I'm willing to pay a bit more for a cooler computer, and more battery life, but those specs. don't seem to be published.
Wired
While in a standard system it is usually ok to use faster memory, as it will downclock, OEM systems are picky as hell, especially OEMs. Unless the SPD chip has exactly what it's looking for, it won't work in the system. I'd stick with whatever's in the configurator, or what Dell recommends.
