TWINX2048 3500LLPRO - Failing Memtest after 20 months!

Hi,

Can anyone please advise what I can do with regard to RMA of what appears to be dying 3500LLPRO RAM from the U.K?

I have had a 2GB Kit of 3500LLPRO running happily in my kids game rig (A8N-SLI Premium, with A64 x2 4800+) for the past 20 months, but we are suddenly getting some very obvious memory related crashes and having now tested the RAM together and individual sticks I am getting errors and total failures on every attempted run.

I have checked settings are correct in BIOS and have tried an older A7 mobo too and still get the same errors, so I do think the RAM is dying.

The RAM has a lifetime warranty, but the UK retailer has advised that as the RAM is now over 12 months old I would have to deal direct with Corsair and return the RAM under your warranty arrangements, but how do I do that from the UK?

Thanks for any advice.

If you have not done so already, please load setup defaults and set the memory voltage to 2.75 volts, and test the modules individually. If both modules are failing individually, then there may be some other issue. However if you have tested the modules on separate systems with the same results, then we would want to get them both replaced.

Please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it. You may contact our customer service at 888-222-4346 and dial "0", (510) 657-8747 or email rmaservice@corsairmemory.com for specific information and possible options regarding your RMA.

Hi,

I can confirm that I have tried both manually setting the timings to the SPD and those suggested by Corsair at anything upto 2.8v and at standard DDR400 speeds (not even the DDR433) and they fail together and singly in both mobo's.

I have also tried leaving verything on auto (which sets them to DDR400) and the same result occurs.

I do have access to a couple of other DDR compatible (socket 939) PC's at work, and I will try the modules in these A8??? motherboards to see if anything changes, and if they still fail I guess I'll start the RMA process from here.

Thanks for the help guys and hope it resolves itself.

With the ASUS MB you need to Disable Legacy USB Support when running any memory test and what are the exact settings you have set these two> They may not pass with AUTO settings set.

In other words if you are setting the memory frequency to run at DDR433 and not setting the CPU from default they will fail with that system and CPU, you would have to over clock the CPU in order to run these modules at their tested settings with the memory frequency set manually to DDR400. And for sure the memory Voltage will need to be set to 2.75 Volts minimum and the command Rate will need to be set to 2t with that CPU you have listed, I have not seen it be able to run at 1t Command Rate with any MB.
