YoMoma
I am building a new computer and have 4 gigs of Corsair ram to throw in it. I was told by a friend that XP might only recognize only 2 gigs of my 4 gigs ram. It may depend on if my operating system is 32 or 64 bit he says. He says Vista will recognize all of the ram. Is this true with XP?
Wired
32 bit XP and Vista will have limitations seeing all of your memory, 64 bit XP and Vista will not.
YoMoma
I was afraid of that. I`m waiting a bit before buying Vista till more and better drivers become availible. If I have 32 bit XP and later upgrade to Vista, will I have to stay with 32 bit or can i go to 64 bit Vista?

If you want to "upgrade" a 32-bit OS to a 64-bit OS, you will have to reformat your hard drive and install 64-bit Vista from scratch. And even if you upgrade 32-bit XP to 32-bit Vista, I'd still recommend a clean install since an upgrade install almost always leaves old, incompatible files on your hard drive which often conflicts with new files in the system.
