KillrBuckeye
I am trying to run 4x512MB of Corsair VS PC3200 without any luck. I had been running 2x512MB of Corsair VS PC3200 for quite some time without any issues. I expected that I might have to use 2T command rate and even reduce my memory speed to make 4 sticks work properly in dual channel, but nothing seems to be working. Memtest86+ fails almost instantly with the 4 modules installed. I verified that the 2 new modules pass Memtest fine by themselves, so it's only an issue when all 4 modules are installed. I've reset my BIOS settings to the defaults, relaxed the latencies, reduced memory speed all the way down to DDR200 (100 MHz), but Memtest continues to report lots of errors almost instantly. Is it possible that my CPU's memory controller simply can't handle 4 DIMMs? If so, that's very disappointing. Here are my relevant system specs: Asus A8N-SLI Premium AMD Opteron
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 21, 2007 Did you disable legacy USB when you ran http://www.memtest.org? And I would set them to Cas 2.5-3-3-7 at 2.75 Volts and set the CPC/CR to 2t and I would set the MCH/NB Voltage up +.05 Volts as well.
KillrBuckeye
I just tried booting with your suggested settings and I didn't have any luck. With USB legacy disabled, my USB keyboard would not function in my boot menu, so I let it load Windows XP (default setting), and it instantly threw up a BSOD, so the system is obviously not stable. Any other suggestions?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 21, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 21, 2007 You need to set the Boot order to the CD or floppy and run http://www.memtest.org, did you set the Memory and MCH/NB Voltage as well?

I have Memtest86+ as one of the options in my Grub bootloader (from when I installed Ubuntu Linux for a dual boot), so it loads from the hard drive. Yes, I increased the chipset and HT voltage (only two options I saw in the BIOS) as well as the VDimm. The system was still unstable as evidenced by the BSOD when loading Windows.
