Dominator compatability

They are not matched. You would need 6400C4's and be advised that you can find issues with 4 DRAM banks filled. You would very likely have to drop the DRAM throughput from 800Mhz to 667Mhz. I advise moving to 2 X 2048 and selling the 2 X 1024. Far less possible issues will arise.

I'm currently using 2 GB of Dominator DDR2 6400C4D (4-4-4-12)

Will the Corsair DDR 2 6400 DHX memory be compatable to make up 4 GB for my Vista 64 system as Dominator ram seems impossible to get now.

Your question says 6400C4D and 6400. These are different sets.

6400DHX = 5-5-5-15 @ 1.8V

6400C4 = 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1V

These are not compatible.

Then the secondary part of my response is still valid. That being:

Your DRAM is running correctly. The SLI-Ready memory feature doesn't work with 4 sticks of DRAM. There is NO difference between SLI memory setting the proper settings and your settings anyway. SLi memory just means that the DRAM is automatically set.

Thanks:biggrin:

I'll bear that in mind as the DHX should arrive tommorrow:bigeyes:

Fingers crossed:laughing:

Keep in mind that the issues I speak of are cumulative, degenerative and you might find stability problems in the future. If you do, I advise you to drop to 667Mhz and 4-4-4-12 before you physically damage the DRAM.

You are now informed at least.

  • 1 month later...

I have recently upgraded my motherboard to a XFX 680 LT Sli and have found that performance is much better running the 4GB of memory at 4-4-4-12-2T at 800mhz as opposed to 667 mhz on my previous Asus P5N-E Sli mobo.

Also i was getting a display driver error using Vista Home Premium 64bit up until i changed the memory settings back to 4-4-4-12-2T.:[pouts:

It has not happened since i made these changes. :biggrin:
