prodigal66
Any difference here, or do they do the same thing? The OC'ing guide from Intel on the D975XBX lists memtest86 to use to check for system stability. I see that a lot of people here mention memtest86+. I have already run memtest86 v3.3 and come up with a couple of errors, so it prbly doesn't matter. Just wondering what the difference was. Thanks, Dave
DerekT
I have found Memtest86 3.3 to be problematic. The DRAM sites all request 1.70 for testing. I suggest you test with http://www.memtest.org and version 1.
prodigal66
Thanks for responding Derek. I will def do that when I get home later, having a bit of a memory issue. Now, if I could just remember what I did with my keys....... Hey, is that cat rocking out with Guitar Hero PS, or XBOX360?

prodigal66
I am running memtest86+ v 1.70 right now. An hour and a half into it and I get my first error. Here are my settings: SDRAM Control: User defined Memory freq: 667Mhz 5 5 5 15 DDR2 Voltage: 1.9 My CPU is running stock speed, no overclock. Is there anything I can do in the timings before I start testing the memory sticks one by one? I also have the ValueRAM that I started the build with. DerekT
Set this DRAM to 2.1v and 4-4-4-12. It is C4, not the cheaper C5. Retest at 4-4-4-12. If you intend to run at JEDEC, then you must run at 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v for testing. http://www.corsair.com/_datasheets/TWIN2X1024-6400C4.pdf If errors occur at 5-5-5-18 with 1.8v or 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v, then please test the modules singly. prodigal66
OK, after the pc running all night at 5-5-5-15 @2.1V, I got 4 errors. I will try what you suggest (4-4-4-12@2.1V) and let you know what happens. Keeping freq @ 667, right? That puts it 4:5 ratio. Also, don't think mine allows 5-5-5-18, could only choose 5-5-5-15. prodigal66
Same thing at those settings: 4-4-4-12 @2.1V, 2 errors after 90 min. I am checking them individually right now; first one did 6 passes, no errors; working on 2nd one as I type. Question: If they both pass individually, what does that mean??
prodigal66
The 2nd one just checked out fine also, 6 passes, no errors. Now what do I do?
