620HX PSU, Keeps shutting off?

Hi, I recently brought a 620HX PSU to replace my 520HX PSU. I have this problem where the system will boot up. It will run fine for awhile and then all of a sudden shut down. I proceed to try and boot it back up, it will power on for a random amount of seconds before it shuts off again.

I'm thinking it has to be the PSU because when I replaced it with the 520HX, it works fine again.

I'm currently using the PSU to power two 500GB Seagate Sata HDs, one Samsung Sata DVD+-RW, 7600GT Video Card, Gigabyte P35-DS3 mobo, four 1GB DDR2 ram, and three 120mm fans. Nothing is overclocked. Anyone know what the problem could be?

It's currently running fine again, but I'll leave it on overnight to see if it shuts off again.

If I have to RMA, it is possible to RMA without UPC code/label correct? I read that in a thread here, but would like confirmation that is still the case if I have to resort to a RMA. Thanks

If you have a system that is functioning fine with the 520HX, and the 620HX is not working, then lets get the 620HX replaced. You do not need the UPC or the original box to have the unit replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace it, please note that you are posting from the forum!

I have exactly the same problem...bought the HX-620 2 weeks ago in the USA to replace my HX-520 (now in my backup PC). My PC started to randomly power-off. When I tried to power-on it would "attempt" to power on for a second...then go off...it would do this repeatedly.

I replaced it with the HX-520 and it's running fine again.

I'm so pissed because I live in Mexico and I don't think I can RMA it from here. (the shipping costs would be the same as what I paid for the PSU)

I love these PSU's...I guess I'm just unlucky with this one.

Just to update, the 520HX now does the same thing. What I had previously assumed to be a PSU problem could be the mobo, or chip or any other number of things. It could still be the PSU, but now it is looking less likely that was the case.

So far, I have tried switching video cards, switching out memory, clearing cmos, buying some Arctic Silver 5 to replace the stock Intel thermal paste that comes with the heatsink. None of that worked, what finally got it to work was taking out the CMOS battery and placing it back in. I'm still not sure if it is totally fixed now but I'm crossing my fingers.

I'm still not sure what the problem is, but if it persists, I'll probably RMA the mobo and Intel chip.

Thanks for the help.
