DerekT
These G0 Quads certainly tune up fine. http://i191.photobucket.com/albums/z225/DaveCim/36.jpg

DerekT
I think that the temps are fine. Keep in mind that the tjunction for these chips are 20C higher than the B2 Core 2. At idle this CPU runs at 37/39/43/45. When I play an hour of Crysis it doesn't get past 50/52/57/59C. Since the CPU does not begin to throttle until 80C and the 100C of the tjunction maximum, there is no doubt that a full bore Quad Prime95 of 68C is more than fine for this CPU. It will still be runnning in five years. I will have Nehalem (2nd Iteration) in 1.5 years. My son will have this one. :P He's got my AMD Opteron 165 @ 2.9Ghz and dual 7900GTX's. My wife has my Pentium 4 630 @ 4.0Ghz and X800GT @ X800XT PE. The P4 does not make higher than 54C load but that is on an analogue ratio. I bet that 54C would be 65C in the core with a DTS. So these temps are all relative Pushook and must be seen at their architecture level.

What FPO/Batch is your Q6600? It runs with full bore on my gaming machine. With a 24" screen and dropped from 1920 X 1200 to 1600 X 1200 it runs just fine. No, it's no speed demon, but that was to be expected with the first Direct X 10 card. I am more than happy enough with the 8800GTX's capabilities. There is a difference between the 8800GT 512 and the 8800GTX though. I advise people who want the full bore on 1920 or higher to move to Striker and 2 X 8800GT's. I enjoyed testing the 8800GT 512. It's VERY noisy at full bore though and needs an aftermarket cooler, but it is very fast. The 256bit memory bus shows in Crysis with high resolutions though and this is where the 8800GTX comes out a winner.
FredJ
I thought I had a pretty decent machine until I ran crysis :sigh!: Now I'm tempted to go for a G0 q6600 but I'm a tad bugged by the still rather high prices on the 8800gtx´s. Only getting 25-35fps with a fair bit of stuttering @1280*1024 on medium settings which is rather annoying. What kinda vcore do you need for the 3,6Ghz DerekT? I can make it with 1.5v(BIOS) 1.46v (Windows) but I always run it a notch higher than the lowest stable. Pencil volt modded. I think your video card is the issue Fred. I don't think it is the dual vs quad core. What is your bandwidth? q6600 ->>>> L731A487 Should pull a good 3.6 out of that one.
FredJ
Yeah, its the gpu thats holding me back. But I discovered that Vista x64 as well as Crysis sure likes lots of ram a lot when I popped in 2 GB´s more. My new Crcal Bllstix 8500 mixed just fine with my old Corsair 6400 C4DHX ones. Running smoothly @ 4.4.4.12 2.12v 835MHz. Just popped them in, ran 1 full pass of memtest without a hitch, thought I would have to set fsb/mem ratio to 1:1 instead of my 4:5 but no. Gonna do memtest overnight just to be sure but it seems to work swellingly.

You should be find at those settings since you have an overclock and the MCH is running faster than stock. I would think that you should be good for the go. I would make sure you have good case airflow as heat is the biggest killer (after voltages).
