Cutshaw
Hey guys, I have a GA-K8NXP-9 motherboard, and I've got 1gb of Corsair TwinX1024-3200XLPRO in it at the moment. This was the first time I ever used Corsair memory and I'm completely converted. So, I'm looking to get a substantial increase in RAM, another 2gb would be great, but it seems getting a hold of this 3200xlpro stuff is getting rather difficult. What are my options? Could I get get some of the more up to date twinx ram and have it running at the lower the speed of my current ram? As long as I can get another 2gb into my machine without my currrent ram suffering, I'll be happy.
Yellowbeard
Try the CORSAIR MEMORY CONFIGURATOR.
Cutshaw
Hey again, I really hope these questions aren't too annoying. I checked out the Configurator and it listed the TWINX2048-3200C2PT as featured for my motherboard. What I'm not sure of is how it will run alongside the TWINX1024-3200C2PRO, compared they look the exact same as each other, only difference being the heat spreader and total size. So, am I missing something, or is it that simple?
DerekT
Corsair staff will be back after the Thanksgiving holidays. Mixing and matching DRAM is never a good idea. I personally advise people to remove the current DRAM and sell it. Then buy the larger amount. You will not have the many possible issues that can arise both with mixing and matching DRAM as well as populating all four DRAM slots which can be an exercise in frustration management all by itself. Much easier to remove and sell the 2 X 512MB and purchase 2 X 1024MB. You will have far less possibilities of issues.
