moschops
I have a pair of TWIN2X2048-6400C4 and a new system using the Gigabyte GA-G33M-S2H and a E6750 processor with the 1333Mhz FSB the compatibility matrix says these two go together. A couple of days after building my system I found it in an on but no display state. In the following two days I saw some random blue screens, and then I got to the state where the system just wouldn't boot until I happened on removing one of the sticks. I ran extensive memtest86 test and it seems I have one good stick, and my system just wont boot with the other stick installed, either on its own or with the other (and I tried both channels). I was about ready to RMA the memory to NewEgg (unless you'd rather I did it directly to Corsair - I just got it so NewEgg will still take it back) when I came to this forum. After reading the comments I see most responses about timings and voltage say this memory really should be running at 1.9V, and is test at 2.1V for the 4-4-4-12 timings. But I'm currently running with bog-standard 5-5-5-18 timings from SPD (with clock of 800Mhz) - everything in my BIOS is set to auto. From everything I can see in BIOS it seems like this mobo defaults to running the memory at 1.8V and that's what it is running at. So two questions - Would it be normal to see this memory fail completely at 1.8V (i.e. is it tested at anything less than 2.1V) ? Can I RMA if it doesn't work at 1.8V ? Thanks! DerekT
I ran extensive memtest86 test and it seems I have one good stick, and my system just wont boot with the other stick installed, either on its own or with the other (and I tried both channels). This is the main issue and is RMA'able. Would it be normal to see this memory fail completely at 1.8V (i.e. is it tested at anything less than 2.1V) ? No it is not normal for this DRAM to fail at the JEDEC (SPD) 5-5-5-15 with 1.8v Can I RMA if it doesn't work at 1.8V ? I'll leave this question to RAM GUY. He will answer you soon. moschops
Based on what I read last night I did more testing... I set my memory voltage to 2.0V and then 2.1V and the suspect stick would still not work at either voltage so I guess it is a case of a bad stick.
