Panneskjegg
I got a new CPU & PSU today. After 5 hours, trying to figure out why my system won't boot- I found out it was the new PSU (when I hooked up my old PSU, the system booted). It's the Corsair HX620 (Eu version).. My motherboard is a MSI K8n neo2 platinum. S939. Digimeter readings are fine... Any suggestions?? (And please don't suggest that I should buy a new MB/CPU etc.. )
Yellowbeard
Try this test to see if the PSU will power on: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63991
Panneskjegg
Try this test to see if the PSU will power on: http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63991 I'll give that a try. Btw.. when im looking at the 20(24)-pin cable from the Corsair PSU, I see that one of the "pins" aren't there. No wire for it either. On my old PSU all the pins are there 20/24. Panneskjegg
I don't have any fans to try that with.. When I hook up the 24 pin tingie to a digi meter it reads: +5V = 5V +12v1 = 12.1V +12v2 = 12.1v +3.3 = 3.3 5VSb = 5.1 -12v = 11.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 14, 2007 This is an older MB and I would suspect that it may take ATX 1.3 P4 Spec PSU's but I would test the PSU with a newer MB if you can and or check with MSI as to the Spec of the PSU that is needed. Our PSU is ATX 2.3 Compliant. I just checked the user manual and it is not specified in the manual but the -12 and -5 Volts rails are shown suggesting what I stated before. The old psu = ATX 2.0.... not ATX 1.3 Edit: All fans are spinning btw.. cpu/psu/graphic card etc.. Unless there are som other suggestions I'll just send it back and get another brand. Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 14, 2007 Our PSU is ATX 2.3 but from the MB layout it looks as though they are using the -5 Volta and or -12 Volt rails as our PSU do not provide the - Voltages. Panneskjegg
You are somewhat right. There seems to be some issues with -5v on this board. Some get it to work without -5v, and some don't. http://forum.msi.com.tw/index.php?topic=111788.0 I really don't want to send back my Corsair PSU. So I will try to disable the onboard soundcard on my MB before I send it back. It may be a long shot, but it may still be worth to try it out. And im sorry for sounding so pissy in my other replies. For over 6 hours I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC, so I got a little frustrated.
Yellowbeard
And im sorry for sounding so pissy in my other replies. For over 6 hours I was trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC, so I got a little frustrated. No offense taken on my part, I understand. Computers drive me crazy  and it is a VERY SHORT DRIVE. Good luck with getting it going.
