analog
After doing lots of web searchs, I decided to buy a FV 8GB GT version. But I was disappointed after testing it. :(: I have tried HD Tune, HD Tach, HD Bench & ATTO. All show quite consistent results of about 24.8 MB/s read & 20.5 MB/s write. I verifed these on 4 different computers (XP & Vista). Are these results normal or something wrong with my USB stick? I understand that larger capacity normally shows a slower speed. However, I believe my results are far from what should be. Can you tell me what is the typ. read/write speed for 8GB GT version? ares139
A quick Google search came up with this: http://techgage.com/article/corsair_voyager_gt_8gb/ There's a few benchmarks there. If you search for "corsair voyager benchmark" or "corsair voyager hd tach" you should find a few more. Those speeds look fairly typical to me. At least you don't have a JumpDrive Firefly... sheesh those things are slow. About as slow as Amazon.com's shipping on my Corsair Survivor 16GB drive. Hopefully I'll get it by the end of this week! Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 14, 2007 That is a bit low, lets get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
analog
As I am in HK, I will try to get it replaced by the local distributor first though sometimes they are not happy to do such kind of replacement. BTW, does this online RMA method applied worldwide? Will you charge me extra because I am not in US? What kind of shipment method will you used for outside US? Thanks for the great support. :D: Analog (from HK)
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 14, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 14, 2007 I would suggest contacting the reseller first and see what they say. And yes the method is the same for any where in the world and we normally use UPS or FEDEX for shipping. And I am sorry I do not know about International shipping, but I would suggest contacting our customer service at 510-657-8747 Monday Through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Time for more details if your reseller will not or cannot help you. analog
Hello RAM GUY, This red 8GB GT stick has been out of stock in HK for a while. It took me more than 2 weeks to get a replacement from the distributor. Unfortunately, this new replacement almost shows the same read/write peed (24/21 MB/s) as the old one. I don't believe I was just so bad luck to have picked two really worse parts. Instead, I start to wonder if its internal components have been changed since its RTM, though you may not know either. I really worry if I call for an on line RMA, then I will receive a third similar stick again. :(: Another possiblity may be something wrong with my PC. My PC is a brand new one using Vista. Although, I believe it is properly set up, do I need to set somethnig special to make the USB stick running higher than 25 MB/s? What is your comment? Will I get a better one using on line RMA? :[pouts: Best regards, Analog.
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 30, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 30, 2007 That is a bit low but may be with in spec, did you try and format the drive with FAT32 from a command Prompt and did you use a 100 MB file size? With format in fat32 and a 100MB test file Average Sequential write was 27.6 MBs and read was 33.8 MBs. So your drive looks to be performing a bit bellow spec. We can try replacing it directly if you like, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
analog
I have tried what you mentioned, reformated the drive under command prompt and used HD bench to do a 100 MB file transfer test. But the results are similar to other bench mark tools, ~24.5/20 MBs read/write speed, much much slower to what Corsair claimed. Since this is the replacement from the local distributor, I have very similar feeling as the other guys that this may be product/QC/spec issue, RMA may not help too much. Anyway, I will try to spend a little more and some times to do a RMA to see if the third one is really the same as before. Analog. evbrown
Rather than start a new thread, I will chime in on this one. I also just purchased an 8 GB Flash Voyager GT. I have done the reformat as recommended here. I am getting: HD Bench (100 mb) Read: 23,480 Write: 20,225 ATTO benchmark Read: 24,161 Write: 21,913 What are the expected specs for this drive? Thanks,
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted December 12, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted December 12, 2007 Should be a bit faster, did you select 100 MB file size in the test? If so let's get it replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace it.
Jamers
I just got my replacement RMA 8 gb Voyager GT. The results in all the benchmarking programs is not different than before. My 4 gb Voyager (non-GT) is actually slightly faster. Do larger size flash drives naturally run a bit slower? I'm starting to feel I got dupped on the GT. analog
My situation is exactly the same as Jamers. I returned the part becasue of its slow speed but the replacement part does not have any improvement at all. This is the second RMA replacements. Does it mean all your shipped GT parts are not produced the high read/write speeds as you claimed? I do not want to do replacement any more. Can I have a refund instead? evbrown
I am PISSED!!! I just received my RMA replacement 8 GB Flash Voyager GT drive. Guess what? It is SLOWER than the one I sent back (see message # 321711). This replacement is showing: 15347 Read, 13001 via the 100 MB HDBench program you say to use. When I returned my drive via RMA, I sent an email, as well as a paper note in the box, asking that you actually TEST the replacement drive you were sending me. Did you pay any attention to my request? Not that I can tell. The package I received was the same plastic sealed package like is sold in the stores. What gives with Corsair products? I am angry enough that I am getting ready to slam you all over the Internet unless this is resolved FAST. And I shouldn't have to spend a penny more to return defective product to you!
