Richard Slater
I have a Corsair HX520W and a Abit IP35 Pro amongst some other components (in profile), the fan on the power supply does not spin up when the computer is turned on or when the PWR ON and GND pins are shorted as per this thread. Any thoughts?
Corsair Employees RAM GUY Posted November 9, 2007 Corsair Employees Share Posted November 9, 2007 Do you get any standby lights powering on when the PSU is connected and the switch on the back is on the "1" position? I would recommend plugging the PSU directly into a wall outlet, and if possible testing it on another machine. If it still not working, then lets get it replaced. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part! Or “Tech Support Express” and we will be happy to replace them or it, please note that you are posting from the forum! Richard Slater
Thank You RAM GUY, for replying so quickly. I do get the standby lights on the motherboard when the PSU is plugged in, turned on and connected to the mains supply (as I do when connected to a eight gang surge protector, or directly into the wall socket). I am able to start the computer with the PSU however the 120mm fan never spins up (it moves freely if you tip the PSU, so I don't believe it has seized). I would assume that because the fan is not spinning the temps rise untill thermal protection kicks in which cuts the mains supply. I have tested on another machine and the same issue exists, the PC powers on but the PSU fan never spins up. I shall attempt to RMA it through the retailer I purchaced it from, thank you for your help, I will be sure to refer the retailer to this thread. Many thanks for your time.
